We have a good chance of winning this one, thereby getting our hopes up again, only to be crushed by Hudson and Smoltz tomorrow and Wednesday.
   2. villainx Posted: September 05, 2005 at 03:56 PM (#1598143)
Winning today is all that matters.
   3. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 04:02 PM (#1598146)
My hopes are back up again. I really hope they can win today.
   4. Rob Base Posted: September 05, 2005 at 04:17 PM (#1598160)
I'm having a footlong from Subway right now. Why would I want this "fresh" toasted?
   5. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 04:22 PM (#1598166)
Matsui is playing. I repeat: Matsui is playing!

All hail Willie Randolph for making a simple, yet competent decision!

I can't wait for Trachsel to dazzle.
   6. Rob Base Posted: September 05, 2005 at 04:28 PM (#1598170)
Ah, Mets fans. Doesn't take much to get optimism back to abounding.
   7. J. Cross Posted: September 05, 2005 at 04:53 PM (#1598208)
Big 3 days here with Florida playing Washington and Philly playing Houston. I think we have to root for Washington and Philly in those series since Houston has an easier schedule and we don't get ot face them again.
   8. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:07 PM (#1598240)
Yay! Angel Hernandez is the crew chief in an important Mets-Braves series!
   9. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:08 PM (#1598243)
Jose!

Now, steal second!
   10. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:09 PM (#1598247)
Yay Jose!

Now, KazMat, drive him in!
   11. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:09 PM (#1598248)
Don't you love Jose Reyes?
   12. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:11 PM (#1598254)
OK, productive out...
   13. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:11 PM (#1598256)
At least he got him over. Kaz just looks improved at the plate.
   14. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:12 PM (#1598258)
CARLOS!
   15. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:13 PM (#1598259)
CARLOS!
   16. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:14 PM (#1598262)
So Jeremy, got a lot of work to do today?
   17. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:17 PM (#1598267)
So Jeremy, got a lot of work to do today?

Not too much, to be honest. For some reason, I'm not getting a lot of work other than reading and the occasional short assignment.
   18. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:19 PM (#1598268)
Yeah, I've got a good amount today. Nothing that can stop me from watching the Mets!
   19. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:22 PM (#1598274)
Ya. When I realized this game was on WPIX, I was quite happy.
   20. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:22 PM (#1598278)
I spent the entire Wright AB muttering, "Walk him. Walk him. Just walk him, damnit."
   21. AJMcCringleberry Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:24 PM (#1598284)
A run in the first inning! That doesn't happen too often!
   22. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:27 PM (#1598288)
Damn you Little Giles!
   23. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:29 PM (#1598297)
I hate Larry with a passion.
   24. AJMcCringleberry Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:29 PM (#1598298)
#### Chipper!
   25. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:35 PM (#1598310)
Uncle Joey!
   26. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:37 PM (#1598315)
1 run. Not bad by Trax.
   27. AJMcCringleberry Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:39 PM (#1598322)
Ok, only one run.
   28. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:41 PM (#1598327)
When is Marcus Giles a FA? I can't wait til he's gone.
   29. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:43 PM (#1598331)
Victor clearing the pitcher's spot...
   30. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:43 PM (#1598332)
Way to clear Trax Vic.
   31. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:43 PM (#1598333)
OFF, this isn't official, but I think he's here until 2007.

He came up for good halfway through the 01 season, and was sent down to the minors in July of 02, so it might not be until 2008.
   32. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:47 PM (#1598338)
46 pitches through 2 for Thomson. We need to get it to their bullpen, especially the soft underbelly.
   33. Benji Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:47 PM (#1598341)
Nothing shocks me any more, but plenty makes me shake my head in disbelief. Being happy that Kaz Matsui is playing, EVER, makes me look like a bobblehead during an earthquake.
   34. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:49 PM (#1598345)
LaRoche needs to stop the sucking.
   35. AJMcCringleberry Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:49 PM (#1598348)
Kaz!
   36. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:49 PM (#1598350)
KAZMAT! WITH ANOTHER DIVE! HOLY ####!

Someone obviously wants the job.
   37. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:50 PM (#1598352)
I hope its sooner rather than later. After Larry, there's no one I fear more on the Braves than Giles. He's a fantastic player and I love watching him play, but for my sake I hope he moves to Canada or somewhere far far away.

The similarities between Laroche and Jacobs are uncanny.

MATSUI!!! Cairo doesn't even smell that one.
   38. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:51 PM (#1598357)
Kaz is playing like a Jap possessed.
   39. AJMcCringleberry Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:55 PM (#1598367)
Time for me to go to a BBQ. Go Mets!
   40. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:58 PM (#1598379)
KAZ STEALS A BASE!
   41. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:58 PM (#1598380)
I'll take it for KazMat.

And steals second! Awesome!
   42. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:58 PM (#1598384)
Kaz!

Oh thank god.

Lets steal some bases now.
   43. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 05:59 PM (#1598386)
Beltran with a walk. Come on Cliffy!
   44. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:04 PM (#1598406)
Long abs for Cliff almost always end in strikeout fashion.
   45. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:05 PM (#1598411)
That's dissapointing.
   46. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:05 PM (#1598412)
Dammit. Not scoring there is going to come back later.
   47. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:07 PM (#1598421)
Way to go Big Red.
   48. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:12 PM (#1598442)
Trachsel rolling now.
   49. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:13 PM (#1598446)
Trax better stay in this ####### rotation.
   50. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:14 PM (#1598452)
So...why is Jacobs not playing all of a sudden? Mientkiewicz has done absolutely nothing.
   51. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:16 PM (#1598458)
Mientkiewicz has experience in meaningful Sept. games.
   52. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:19 PM (#1598464)
Good to see Thomson have an easy inning. He's had a rough go of it since coming off the DL.
   53. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:21 PM (#1598470)
####### Andruw Jones.
   54. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:22 PM (#1598471)
He, um, ripped that.
   55. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:23 PM (#1598474)
That was nifty.
   56. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:25 PM (#1598476)
Matsui has really turned it up a notch, even if he doesn't get him...
   57. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:25 PM (#1598477)
Matsui doesn't get to that ball one month ago.
   58. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:26 PM (#1598480)
That was a nice play by Matsui, even if he didn't get that out.
   59. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:27 PM (#1598484)
Matsui has turned into a ####### defensive whiz.
   60. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:27 PM (#1598485)
OK, that was just bad luck for LaRoche. He is really fighting it right now.
   61. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:33 PM (#1598500)
I was wishing that ball would drop, but knew Andruw was catching it the whole time.
   62. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:35 PM (#1598507)
We need to get Thomson out.
   63. Rob Base Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:35 PM (#1598509)
102 pitches for Thomson.
   64. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:36 PM (#1598516)
So, despite his SB and defensive play, Matsui needs another hit to guarantee a start tomorrow, doesn't he?
   65. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:38 PM (#1598517)
Bobby Orr is going to pinch hit, so Thomson is done.

Soft underbelly here we come!
   66. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:40 PM (#1598521)
Bobby's probably hoping for two innings from Davies and one each from Reitsma and Farnsworth.
   67. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:45 PM (#1598537)
####, we really have to win this ####### game.
   68. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:47 PM (#1598539)
D-Wright!
   69. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:47 PM (#1598540)
David Wright is so ####### good.

Let's go ##########.
   70. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:49 PM (#1598545)
Come on RBI/RISP man!
   71. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:51 PM (#1598549)
That was just stupid Ramon.
   72. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:51 PM (#1598550)
Damnit Castro.
   73. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:51 PM (#1598551)
Damnit, Castro, don't go for that on 2-0.
   74. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:54 PM (#1598559)
Is this Trachsel's last inning?
   75. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:56 PM (#1598564)
Russlan, it depends on if Diaz gets on.
   76. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 06:57 PM (#1598566)
Look, Trachsel is smart. He walks Jones, obviously intentionally to face Hollandsworth.
   77. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:00 PM (#1598570)
Tremendous performance by Trachsel today.
   78. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:02 PM (#1598576)
Nicely done with the middle of the order. Now let's get some runs.
   79. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:04 PM (#1598587)
Yes Vic! I leave Trachsel in and bunt Diaz to second.
   80. Rob Base Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:05 PM (#1598590)
is Trax bunting?
   81. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:05 PM (#1598591)
Of course, that requires Trax to be able to bunt. Damnit.
   82. Rob Base Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:06 PM (#1598593)
Nice play, Randolph.
   83. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:06 PM (#1598594)
Speed never slumps!

Let's go NewKaz.
   84. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:06 PM (#1598595)
STAYED FAIR! YES!

Come on Kazmat!
   85. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:09 PM (#1598603)
GREAT AT BAT NEWKAZ!

It's your time Carlos.
   86. Rob Base Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:09 PM (#1598604)
Yay!
   87. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:09 PM (#1598605)
Nice AB KazMat!

Up to Carlos. Please Carlos. I beg you...
   88. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:09 PM (#1598606)
Excellent AB by Kaz! Who is this guy??

Beltran - you know.
   89. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:12 PM (#1598613)
That was devastating.
   90. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:12 PM (#1598614)
####
   91. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:12 PM (#1598615)
I knew that wasn't deep enough...

####. ####. ####. ####. ####.
   92. Benji Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:13 PM (#1598616)
Can't second guess Acta there.
   93. Rob Base Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:13 PM (#1598617)
Ah ####
   94. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:13 PM (#1598619)
That's all on Acta right there. Fanceour has like 30 assists already and Floyd in on deck with two outs and the bases loaded.

Acta ###### us there.
   95. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:14 PM (#1598621)
You have to send him; that was literally a perfect throw. Anything less and he's safe.
   96. Honkie Kong Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:14 PM (#1598622)
i get up and I get to see Davies load the bases by walking Matsui :-(
But then, they try to run on Francouer. ha!

pity the Mets fired their scouts, or they would have known :)
   97. Joshemy Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:16 PM (#1598625)
And then he doubles.

I guess I found the next guy I'm going to hate for years...
   98. Old Matt Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:16 PM (#1598626)
This guy is going to terrorize me for the next 20 years.
   99. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:17 PM (#1598630)
By the way, lost in the shuffle - terrible job by Beltran. Just awful.

I hate this Francaeiour guy already.
   100. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 05, 2005 at 07:17 PM (#1598632)
As a distinterested observer that was a sweet throw.

That's the third such throw I have seen the kid make in the last two weeks while catching a game via TBS.

If he half learns the strike zone the Braves have a MVP candidate to anchor the lineup until 2015.

Unless "hooking up" with his booster club distracts him. I think Mets fans might want to start a collection to keep Jeff otherwise "engaged".
