Is 0 for 7 with 5 Ks and one GIDP the worst batter line ever?
   102. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:05 PM (#4124858)
Or not.
   103. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:06 PM (#4124859)
If it isn't DKDC, it's gotta be in the top 3.
   104. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:06 PM (#4124860)
Or should that be "bottom 3"?
   105. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:06 PM (#4124861)
DKDC if you haven't put something through your TV you're a better man than I am.
   106. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:07 PM (#4124862)
Nice AB, Gonzalez. ####### brilliant, guy.
   107. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:07 PM (#4124863)
Saltalamacchia remains my guy today. Gotta get him another at bat.
   108. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:08 PM (#4124864)
First pitch groundout against a closer who's in his 2nd inning at 20+ pitches. What a ####### idiot.
   109. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:08 PM (#4124865)
Jeremy Kapstein at 15 innings with the headphones on, his ears have to be sore at this point.
   110. Answer Guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:08 PM (#4124866)
Seeing McDonald due up instead of Ortiz brings back memories of Jimy Williams using Darren Lewis as either a pinch runner or defensive replacement and then having Lewis bat in key situations later in the game.
   111. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:09 PM (#4124867)
Swing the ####### bat ########.
   112. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:09 PM (#4124868)
13 hits - including 3 HR and 3 2B
8 BBs
1 ROE
22 baserunners

6 runs scored
9 LOB
1 runner out on basepaths
7 double plays
   113. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:10 PM (#4124869)
To repeat, without the pinch runner we would have lost in nine.
   114. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:10 PM (#4124871)
I think the 7 DPs is an MLB record.
   115. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:11 PM (#4124872)
Who the hell pitches the next inning for the Os?
   116. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:11 PM (#4124873)
Reynolds goes deep, book it.
   117. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:12 PM (#4124874)
I did the math wrong. Only 6 DPs so far.
   118. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:12 PM (#4124875)
Honestly they could throw Showalter out there and the sox would go 1-2-3
   119. Answer Guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:12 PM (#4124876)
To repeat, without the pinch runner we would have lost in nine.

I was out house hunting, so didn't look at anything until just now. To my surprise the game was still going.

I haven't really hated that much about Bobby V's managing style except for a couple of bullpen choices earlier in the season.

   120. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:12 PM (#4124877)
Or Chris Adavis apparently.
   121. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:14 PM (#4124878)
Wow...this one is over.

That's your backup plan? Use a starter and call up reinforcements for chrissakes.
   122. RB in NYC (Now Semi-Retired from BBTF) Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:14 PM (#4124879)
Well, Davis is hitting like a pitcher, might as well run him out there
   123. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:16 PM (#4124880)
So 0 for 7 with 5 Ks, one gidp while also being the losing pitcher with 2 BBs, three ER allowed on one HR allowed pitching has to be the worst game ever.
   124. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:17 PM (#4124881)
Holy #### Pedroia.
   125. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:17 PM (#4124882)
I HATE when managers go to a position player in extra innings before using a starting pitcher. How can you basically concede a game after going for 16 ####### innings?
   126. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:18 PM (#4124884)
Well, at least we know Pedroia cares about winning this game.
   127. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:18 PM (#4124885)
Just forfeit the ####### game. I refuse to watch this.
   128. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:19 PM (#4124886)
We are an inning away from a second sweet Caroline.
   129. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:19 PM (#4124887)
I HATE when managers go to a position player in extra innings before using a starting pitcher. How can you basically concede a game after going for 16 ####### innings?

I don't think the Red Sox are even going to score off a position player with the way the bats are going right now.
   130. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:20 PM (#4124888)
If we lose this game tell my parents I loved them, I'm working on the noose right now.
   131. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:20 PM (#4124889)
WJ - they did it in the 15th I think.
   132. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:21 PM (#4124891)
Darnell McDonald is warming up now?

#### both of these managers.
   133. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:21 PM (#4124892)
Ha ha ha

I'm following on Gameday; what's going on?
   135. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:21 PM (#4124895)
Salty should go kill himself.
   136. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:22 PM (#4124896)
Wait, the orioles are pitching a position player?
   137. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:22 PM (#4124897)
He actually has a respectable 89 mph fastabll.

And a changeup.
   138. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:22 PM (#4124898)
####### pitiful.
   139. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:23 PM (#4124899)
Chris Davis is going to get the win. This team should all just go kill themselves.
   140. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:23 PM (#4124900)
Jesus, we were going 1-2-3 against Chris Davis.
   141. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:24 PM (#4124901)
Wow, Byrd is slow. That wasn't even a close play.
   142. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:24 PM (#4124902)
#### you.
   143. Answer Guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:24 PM (#4124903)
Amazing fact:Only one of these teams is going to lose this game.
   144. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:24 PM (#4124904)
It's a first baseman on the mound, don't get a runner thrown out at the plate.
   145. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:25 PM (#4124905)
What a terrible send.
   146. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:25 PM (#4124906)
Aw, come on, you can't do that to the freakin' position player pitching, Betemit!
   147. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:26 PM (#4124907)
That was awesome.

Davis clearly has pitched at some point in his career but he has no business getting major league bitters out. The Red Sod will still win this game.
   148. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:26 PM (#4124908)
Gameday follower here, was it close at the plate?
   149. greenback Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:26 PM (#4124909)
This is amazing.
   150. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:27 PM (#4124910)
Where did the 2-0 miss?
   151. greenback Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:27 PM (#4124911)
Gameday follower here, was it close at the plate?

No. Good throw, good relay.
   152. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:27 PM (#4124912)
Is Pedroia coming in to pitch?
   153. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:27 PM (#4124913)
Gameday follower here, was it close at the plate?

Nope. Wieters had the ball and was set up for the collision when Byrd was only about 2/3 of the way to home from third.
   154. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:27 PM (#4124914)
Yes, very close. Slammed into Weiters., who held on (like always).
   155. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:28 PM (#4124915)
This is a joke.
   156. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:28 PM (#4124916)
Cool, the Orioles are willing to lose baserunners when a position player is on the mound as well.
   157. greenback Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:29 PM (#4124917)
Betemit should be released on the spot. Sheesh.
   158. Answer Guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:29 PM (#4124918)
It would be nice if the Sox could manage to get a hit with less than 2 outs.
   159. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:29 PM (#4124919)
Idiot.
   160. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:30 PM (#4124921)
What a freaking awful caught stealing!

Byed was out by 5 feet.
   162. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:31 PM (#4124924)
Darnell not looking as good as Davis.
   163. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:31 PM (#4124925)
What are they chanting?
   164. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:31 PM (#4124926)
He's going to ####### walk in the go ahead run. Awesomeness.
   165. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4124927)
Gameday doesn't think any of those pitches were terribly close.
   166. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4124928)
Do the Red Sox really not have a position player who can throw harder than 82 and maybe throw a changeup or curveball?
   167. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4124929)
He's going to ####### walk in the go ahead run. Awesomeness.

No, he chose the more obvious route.
   168. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4124930)
Gameday calls every pitch by McDonald a changeup.
   169. greenback Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4124931)
When you've got a 9-6 lead, don't you have to get a real pitcher warming?
   170. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4124932)
Let's see if Davis can nail it down...
   171. Answer Guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4124933)
Just when I thought I had seen every way to lose, this team shows me a new one.
   172. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4124934)
Does Palmer still do the O's radio? Maybe he can pitch.
   173. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4124935)
When you get to face a position player at home in the 16th inning and lose in the 17th inning, you should probably just blow up the team.
   174. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4124936)
So our emergency pitcher is better than yours. Duquette is a genius.
   175. Swedish Chef Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:34 PM (#4124937)
Well, there's someone who's trying to win this damn game at least...
   176. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:34 PM (#4124938)
Fire him.
   177. boteman Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:34 PM (#4124939)
I'd love to see it, but DirecTV doesn't think I need to see an extra-inning game after 19:30 because, you know, no baseball game would go that long.
   178. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4124940)
If I'm Showalter I find a starter to give me three outs.
   179. greenback Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4124941)
Palmer's on MASN right now.
   180. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4124942)
Both managers screwed up here. Buck just got luckier so far.
   181. RB in NYC (Now Semi-Retired from BBTF) Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4124943)

Karlmagnus is dancing a happy jig as we speak
   182. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4124944)
He should just bean Davis.
   183. Answer Guy Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4124945)
#### this team in its many overpaid orifices.
   184. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:36 PM (#4124946)
If they send Davis out there there is still hope.
   185. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:37 PM (#4124947)
Both managers screwed up here. Buck just got luckier so far.

At least he picked a guy to pitch who could throw strikes instead of belt high BP.
   186. greenback Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:37 PM (#4124948)
If they send Davis out there there is still hope.

As hard as Davis was throwing, I might prefer to see Matusz, if I'm a Red Sox fan.
   187. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:37 PM (#4124949)
God I hate this "our teams have won too many championships" commercial.
   188. Swedish Chef Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:37 PM (#4124951)
What the hell, are they going to let him face some real hitters?
   189. boteman Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:38 PM (#4124952)
I just tuned in...are both pitchers now in the lineup?
   190. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:38 PM (#4124953)
It's pretty impressive that this team managed to find a new depth to sink to after blowing that 9-1 lead against the Yankees, but here we are.
   191. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:38 PM (#4124954)
If we don't go 1-2-3 I'll be stunned.
   192. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:38 PM (#4124955)
Davis was better but he was still getting slapped around. And now he has to face the major league portion of the Sox lineup.
   193. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:39 PM (#4124956)
Bad managing by Showalter here, Davis is your set up guy, he should go to his closer Markakis.
   194. Swedish Chef Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:39 PM (#4124957)
I just tuned in...are both pitchers now in the lineup?

Both pitchers are FROM the lineup...
   195. DKDC Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:40 PM (#4124958)
My mlb tv feed is out. Wtf.
   196. greenback Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:40 PM (#4124959)
What does Wieters say during the mound visit?
   197. Dan Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:40 PM (#4124960)
MLB.tv is just saying "commercial break in progress". The game is back on, isn't it??
   198. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:41 PM (#4124961)
Can Gonzalez ground into a game ending triple play?
   199. RB in NYC (Now Semi-Retired from BBTF) Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:42 PM (#4124962)
A-Gon is going yard here
   200. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: May 06, 2012 at 07:42 PM (#4124963)
Two on, none out for Gonzalez
