Bobby V and Youk have kissed and made up but tonight's lineup doesn't have me believing that Valentine is a big believer in the GGoW;

Aviles SS
Pedroia 2B
Gonzalez 1B
Ross RF
Ortiz DH
Youkilis 3B
Shoppach C
McDonald LF
Repko CF
   2. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 06:19 PM (#4110009)
Everyone can see Youkilis is struggling right now, why is dropping him in the lineup one spot a big deal? He's been hitting 5th, and he's now hitting 6th to preserver the alternating handedness of the lineup with Ross batting cleanup against a LHP. It's not like he's batting 9th.
   3. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 06:19 PM (#4110011)
The bigger issue with the lineup is the fact that ####### Repko is apparently going to start every day in CF, despite having 0 actual baseball skills.
   4. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:14 PM (#4110055)
Twins up 2-0 over NYY, Rays up 2-0 over Toronto.
   5. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:16 PM (#4110057)
Twins up 4-0.
   6. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:25 PM (#4110068)
Great AB, Adrian.
   7. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:34 PM (#4110085)
Now 4-3 Twins.
   8. Tim Dawson Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:41 PM (#4110092)
That's the right way to respond to be pushed down in the lineup.
   9. Tim Dawson Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:43 PM (#4110094)
I'm not expecting much from Youk...I think he's looked pretty done. But I'm hoping I'm as wrong as I was with Papi in 2009.
   10. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:54 PM (#4110099)
We're probably never going to see 08/09 Youk again, but a full season of 2011 Youk is still plenty valuable.
   11. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:55 PM (#4110100)
Nice throw ! Is it me or was Kinsler picker off earlier ?
   12. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: April 18, 2012 at 07:58 PM (#4110102)
Andrus was safe I think, but nice play by McD.

Ball 2 to Andrus was a strike if better received.
   13. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 18, 2012 at 08:02 PM (#4110108)
Andrus was safe - Kinsler was out though

This line up is insane though - I'm glad we only have two games v the Rangers
   14. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 08:15 PM (#4110116)
oh #### this team
   15. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: April 18, 2012 at 08:15 PM (#4110117)
It's kind of sad to think about how much still having David Murphy would improve this team right now.
   16. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 08:40 PM (#4110145)
A two out hit would be kinda nifty.
   17. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 08:53 PM (#4110162)
Holland has made Gonzalez his ##### tonight.

I am the only one who thinks Cody Ross is a dead ringer Rob Corddry?
   19. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: April 18, 2012 at 08:55 PM (#4110167)
Bunt it, Papi!

Now that you mention it ...
   21. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:05 PM (#4110175)
Assuming he's done that's another fine effort from Beckett.
   22. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:10 PM (#4110181)
I am enjoying the Kelly Shoppach experience so far.
   23. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:12 PM (#4110184)

Shoppach wasthe one offseason move I suggested that the Red Sox actually did.

Well that and moving Bard to the rotation. Both look good so far!
   24. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:14 PM (#4110186)
We live in a world where Nick Punto is a viable pinch hitter. It's possible that Jason Replo's bat is not MLB quality.
   25. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:16 PM (#4110188)
Ah, Punto.
   26. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:19 PM (#4110191)
Nate Spears is on the team? Huh.
   27. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:26 PM (#4110196)
Nate Spears is on the team? Huh.

You could make that comment about a lot of players right now.
   28. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:29 PM (#4110198)
There isn't a whole lot to be excited about, probably why I am calmer than usual
   29. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:29 PM (#4110201)
Mornin Phil
   30. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:31 PM (#4110202)
Not surprising
   31. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:31 PM (#4110203)
Hey Jose, hope you are well.

   32. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:32 PM (#4110205)
Dear Ben Cherington, if you're till the GM next winter try not to fix problems by just shutting your eyes and wishing reeeeeally hard.
   33. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:32 PM (#4110206)
Homicidal but otherwise ok.
   34. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:32 PM (#4110207)
Now Napoli hits a grand slam and buries the Sox.
   35. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4110208)
Well beyond the point of mattering, but the intentional walk to Beltre on a 2-0 count was stupid. So many managers these days ridiculously overuse the IBB. I'd really like to see Bobby V not be one of them.
   36. Dan Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4110209)
Sorry, it was "just" a wallball double.
   37. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4110210)
Hey they will be 3-3 on the homestand - look on the bright side!!
   38. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4110211)
....and as I posted that, another IBB. Joy.
   39. The Mohole* of David Wells (* - Piehole) Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4110212)
Yikes.
   40. Swedish Chef Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:35 PM (#4110214)
Batting Napoli 7th is pretty obtuse.
   41. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:35 PM (#4110215)
So every year I put aside $1,100 to pay for playoff tickets.

Any suggestions for a small home improvement project that might cost $1,100?
   42. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:36 PM (#4110216)
Still two games ahead of last years pace!
   43. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4110221)
If Albers DOESN'T walk in the run I'll be stunned.
   44. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4110222)
Yay!
   45. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 18, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4110226)

Exactly - this team is on fire!!

In the same sense that one's house might be on fire, or, for a more on point and vaguely sportier comparison, one's stock car might be on fire during a race.

Today is a day of joy - my daughter asked me this morning to play her Spiritualized (specifically Ladies and Gentleman we are Floating in Space!) - nothing is going to ruin it - NOTHING !
   48. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: April 18, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4110242)
Well, got the tie run to the plate, can't ask for more than that.

Hopefully that doesn't mean that she's discovered pot. That's one of those albums that seems to make more sense under the influence of illicit psychoactive substances. See also, My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless."

Hard to tell if they just can't catch a break, or if they're just not that good.

Agree - all of his songs are extremely druggy. Ladies and Gents though is just a stunning , beautiful track
