1. Jim WisinskiI believe I read somewhere that Buchholz and Hellickson are the first and second slowest paced starters in the AL, respectively.
I know that fairly recently the Rays radio guys relayed a tweet by Karl Ravech saying that five of the seven slowest pitchers in baseball this season were on the Red Sox.
He isn't, is he? I thought he made a pretty strong (although ill-advised) throw to the plate last night, I was expecting a play at the plate on Rodriguez there because a similar throw probably would have made it very close. It's almost as if he was overreacted to being chastened by the coaching staff for not giving the cut-off man a chance last night and went the opposite direction, making a throw directly to the SS that would have rolled to the plate if allowed through.
They pulled WMB. I like the move based on where the Sox are in the lineup, even though it downgrades the defense at third base. Middlebrooks just batted in the last inning, and there's a fair chance Youk and Gonzalez could come to bat in the bottom of the 8th or 9th if the game goes past 8 innings.
Rodriguez has serious pop in his bat, it doesn't show all that often because he's not a very good hitter but he can launch them out.
I assume this is somehow Valentine's fault.
