I'm not sure exactly what happened, but according to Camden Chat they lost the DH when Longoria went from DH to play 3B. They've used a bunch of bench guys, and Roberts got hurt during the AB, so with a thin bench and the count 1-2 maybe Maddon just punted the AB.
