I wonder if he's a little too pumped - 96 and 97 in the first risks your good stuff deserting you by the 5th.
Disagree. Pitch F/X had the 98 MPH pitch to Bautista with 10 inches of run.
2 grounders to third and a grounder to SS go for a single, double, and IF single. Bard ain't gettin' no love from the BABIP gods.
Hard grounder to Punto's right. Deep in the hole. He bobbled it but Enc. would have been safe anyway.
Well, with my own eyes I saw that it didn't move that much. I'll watch it again after the game, but it moved maybe an inch or two.
In Fenway they score that an error.
Agreed, and the first hit would probably have been an out if Youks was playing back a bit. Was he looking bunt? Or was he thinking that Bard's stuff would induce a weak grounder?
Drabek: 2 IP, 35 pitches. On pace for 158 pitch CG, or 5.2 IP at 100 pitches.
Of what?
He's basically throwing exactly like Dan Bard, setup man.
I dunno, I'm not seeing the starter experiment right now. He's only got two pitches, and I'm skeptical he can keep throwing 97 when he needs it all night long.
This essentially why he was so bad last year; just a complete loss of control and body mechanics.
I just, I thought I'd see something that looked a little bit less like the Dan Bard of 2009-2011. He's the same pitcher - even with the same velocity - and I don't know if that's going to be sustainable the third time through the order.
Well, if he can sit 95 and dial it up to 98 with movement all game, he's not going to need all that much secondary stuff.
