Going well so far.
   2. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 07:24 PM (#4135411)
Bard, Bard, Bard... Knock it off.
   3. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: May 18, 2012 at 07:39 PM (#4135420)
I don't think I'll be watching much of this tonight.
   4. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 07:40 PM (#4135422)
I miss it when Bard would strike people out.
   5. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 07:50 PM (#4135426)
Tonight's strategy: Get people on base for Aviles.
   6. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:23 PM (#4135439)
Throw strikes!
   7. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:26 PM (#4135440)
I hope Gonzalez is reminding Bard where the plate is?
   8. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:27 PM (#4135441)
Whatever Gonzalez just said totally worked!
   9. Chip Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:31 PM (#4135444)
Gameday shows five pitches in the strike zone to Rollins there in the bottom of the 4th. One strike, four balls called.
   10. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:46 PM (#4135449)
Yikes, this is scary.
   11. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:47 PM (#4135451)
Ouch. I hope like heck this isn't something that lingers.
   12. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:48 PM (#4135453)
A baseball shouldn't make that clicking noise coming off your skull.
   13. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:49 PM (#4135454)
Ouch. I hope like heck this isn't something that lingers.

Me too, although I'd be surprised if it didn't. Taking a baseball to the head is liable to mess you up for awhile.
   14. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:50 PM (#4135455)
Yeah, I'm afraid this is the sort of thing where you get Ryan Lavarnway on a plane after the PawSox game, just in case.
   15. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:52 PM (#4135456)
And have the trainer watching Salty like a hawk. Head injuries scare the heck out of me.
   16. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 08:54 PM (#4135461)
(A) Robot Umpires Now!

(B) Cody Ross does certain things well.
   17. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:02 PM (#4135467)
He doesn't play defense or talk a walk that well, but Ross is really hitting the crap out of the ball this year.
   18. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:03 PM (#4135469)
He doesn't take a walk. For all I know he talks walks all day long.
   19. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:07 PM (#4135472)
Man, I want to hit Jonathan Papelbon. This is how everyone outside New England has felt for the last six or seven years, isn't it?
   20. Guapo Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:11 PM (#4135474)
Yes
   21. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:12 PM (#4135477)
Hell, I lived in New England and wanted to hit him
   22. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:22 PM (#4135483)
More managers should slap relievers around.

I would have said this even if it hadn't been followed by a strikeout.
   23. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:26 PM (#4135486)
Yeah. More like that, Gonzo.
   24. Mattbert Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4135500)
Big fly. Hopefully that's Gonzo off the schneid there.

Verlander loses a no-no with 1 out in the 9th.
   25. Mattbert Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4135504)
Freddy Galvis? The hell?
   26. Mattbert Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:46 PM (#4135507)
Shoppach
Nava
Byrd

to face Papelbon, down by 2.

Ballgame.
   27. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:47 PM (#4135509)
Come on, guys. I'd rather not split the evening with Philly.
   28. Mattbert Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:48 PM (#4135510)
But if we can just get someone on base, then it's Nicky Punto Time!
   29. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:48 PM (#4135511)
Don't worry, if someone gets on base, Punto comes up to hit the gametying homer.
   30. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4135512)
DAMN IT
   31. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4135513)
We'll take baserunners however they come.
   32. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4135514)
Honestly Gonzalez homering is almost better than winning tonight.
   33. Mattbert Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4135515)
They're giving him a hit on that?

Why do official scorers hate pitchers so ####### much?
   34. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:51 PM (#4135517)
Papelbon is overamped fascing his old team.
   35. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4135519)
Is this Valentine's first ejection for the Red Sox?
   36. Mattbert Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4135520)
Give him hell, Bobby!
   37. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4135521)
Uhhh...Byrd looked safe to me.
   38. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4135522)
Looks awfully close. Man, now it comes down to Little Nicky Punto.
   39. Mattbert Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4135523)
Ball beat him by a fraction, but Wiggy was off the bag I thought.
   40. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4135524)
Yes, it's first ejection for BV this season.
   41. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4135525)
Punto has as much of a chance on Papelbon's fastball as I would.
   42. Jay Seaver Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4135527)
Damn it. Well, go Celtics.
   43. Dan Posted: May 18, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4135528)
Wow, Papelbon, you retired Nava, Byrd, and Punto. You really should be flipping out like that.
