Should be a good night for a ballgame.
   2. Darren Posted: June 24, 2009 at 10:46 PM (#3231593)
Looking forward to more Lester domination!
   3. fra paolo Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:08 PM (#3231627)
mlb.tv was slow on switching to the broadcast.
   4. Answer Guy Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:12 PM (#3231638)
Not a good start. Remember, the faster you can get into the Washington bullpen, the better. They're ridiculously awful.
   5. fra paolo Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:14 PM (#3231645)
mlb.tv is not making the transitions very well, I've missed the first two outs.
   6. fra paolo Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:15 PM (#3231647)
They cut away too fast, too. This is awful. Where do I complain?
   7. Chris Needham Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:25 PM (#3231670)
Here, apparently!
   8. fra paolo Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:29 PM (#3231684)
mlb.tv just cut away in the middle of Willingham's at-bat. Bloody useless toe-rags.
   9. fra paolo Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:31 PM (#3231691)
Call that bat out for interference! I'm on the radio now. Missed something interesting thanks to those bloody useless toe-rags at mlb.tv.
   10. Chris Needham Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:31 PM (#3231692)
Even Dukes' bat is a menace!
   11. Curse of the Graffanino (dfan) Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:32 PM (#3231694)
Holy crap. That was a perfect total double play ball too. I've never seen anything quite like that.
   12. fra paolo Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:33 PM (#3231698)
Yay, Charlie Slowes' just told me what Wil Nieves' music is! I can't curse mlb.tv so much, though. If they hadn't been screwing up, I would have missed it. Yo no soy by Tony Vega.
   13. Answer Guy Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:33 PM (#3231697)
Having to follow this online; wonder if Lester's actually bad tonight or just unlucky.
   14. Curse of the Graffanino (dfan) Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:35 PM (#3231705)
I'd say unlucky. 1-2-3 first inning, second inning would have ended with a double play ball but Green had to dodge a bouncing splintered bat as the grounder went through his feet.
   15. tfbg9 Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:38 PM (#3231717)
Oh yeah, that was worth not being able to see the game for.
   16. tfbg9 Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:39 PM (#3231718)
Hello everybody.
   17. tfbg9 Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:39 PM (#3231722)
Nice AB Nicky.
   18. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:42 PM (#3231728)
So do the guys have a 10PM tour of the White House scheduled or something?
   19. Answer Guy Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:43 PM (#3231730)
So do the guys have a 10PM tour of the White House scheduled or something?

I was thinking "9:30 reservations at Charlie Palmer" myself.
   20. tfbg9 Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:44 PM (#3231731)
Oh great. 0-2 leadoff hit to the pitcher.
   21. Answer Guy Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:49 PM (#3231744)
How exactly does one walk Cristian Guzman on four pitches? That's like getting no action at a brothel holding a stack of Benjamins. Jeez, Lester.
   22. tfbg9 Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:51 PM (#3231750)
Tease Time.
   23. Answer Guy Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:55 PM (#3231764)
This whole "let the stiffs get on base and then get out of trouble by getting the more competent Nats hitters out in high pressure situations" strikes me as a unsustainable strategy over the entire course of a game.
   24. Answer Guy Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:56 PM (#3231766)
Also, let's not get no-hit.
   25. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:57 PM (#3231772)
OK, there's the hit!
   26. Answer Guy Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3231773)
At least Dusty has fixed the "no no hitter" part.
   27. tfbg9 Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3231776)
PO!
   28. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3231778)
Dave Roberts really enjoys a good productive out.
   29. tfbg9 Posted: June 24, 2009 at 11:59 PM (#3231779)
That was a bad call? Looked like it.
   30. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:00 AM (#3231780)
Haven't seen the hitting coach ejected in quite some time. I assume Tito will join him shortly.
   31. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:00 AM (#3231782)
Washington is not used to such scenes. Think of the children!
   32. Chris Needham Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:01 AM (#3231785)
Nats pitch-tracker thing said bad, but not egregiously so.
   33. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:01 AM (#3231787)
Justice.
   34. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:01 AM (#3231791)
32-yes.
   35. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3231795)
Morning all
   36. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:03 AM (#3231796)
Nats pitch-tracker thing said bad, but not egregiously so.

The Sox' version agreed with that assessment.
   37. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:03 AM (#3231799)
G'day Phil!
   38. Answer Guy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:03 AM (#3231800)
Think of the children!

Funny. I had thought of DC as almost a kid-free zone. Of course that may stem from living in Adams-Morgan, going to school at GW in Foggy Bottom, and hanging out in Dupont Circle. If you wanted to see rugrats you went down to the Mall and spotted the tourists, out to the 'burbs to shop, or into the poor 'hoods.
   39. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:04 AM (#3231804)
Hey Jose - squander coming up?
   40. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3231809)
Nah, Papi's getting it done.
   41. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:07 AM (#3231815)
curtain call on the road for Papi?
   42. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:07 AM (#3231817)
He's Back
   43. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:07 AM (#3231818)
Bomb. 3 run Johnson.

What a bad pitch.
   44. Answer Guy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:08 AM (#3231820)
Nah, Papi's getting it done.

Jose is psychic.
   45. Chris Needham Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:08 AM (#3231821)
I got a tour of the Nats broadcast truck once. Their pitch tracker consists of a bored-looking guy (in a Sox hat, with a Sox game-tracker in the background), clicking on the point of release, fast forwarding, then clicking where the ball crossed.

Not nearly as fancy as I was expecting.
   46. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:08 AM (#3231823)
It doesn't sound like a road game.
   47. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:08 AM (#3231824)
Nah, Papi's getting it done.

You rule!
   48. Answer Guy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:10 AM (#3231830)
I think if I were Stammen I think I'd have let Papi take first on the third ball and take my chances with 'Tek.

It makes me feel good re: Papi that that's now the [objective] advice I'd have given the opposing pitcher there.
   49. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:11 AM (#3231833)
Yeesh, I kinda feel like I have to pull a Costanza and leave now. I won't do it better than that.
   50. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:11 AM (#3231836)
Nicky's got a gun. That he's got.
   51. mack Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:11 AM (#3231837)
Boom. Willingham shoulda listened to Dibble and thrown the heat.
   52. Answer Guy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:11 AM (#3231838)
It doesn't sound like a road game.

That'll take some time.

For years and years you could go to Caps home games and think you were in the other team's arena. Especially at a Flyers, Devils, Penguins, or Rangers game.
   53. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:14 AM (#3231845)
Yeesh, I kinda feel like I have to pull a Costanza and leave now. I won't do it better than that.

I just watched that one yesterday. Love it
   54. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:14 AM (#3231846)
Dibble is second-guessing Stamman like mad over on MASN.
   55. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:15 AM (#3231848)
My wife's nephew sent me some Belgian chocolates for Father's Day. What a fine chap he is!
   56. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:15 AM (#3231853)
Dibble is second-guessing Stamman like mad over on MASN.

That's his job. Good for him. Maybe I've been harsh.
   57. Chris Needham Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:16 AM (#3231856)
That's all Dibble ever does.

There's no bigger criminal offense in Dibble's mind -- to include deflowering his family members -- than a pitcher getting beat on something on than hit fastball.
   58. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:18 AM (#3231860)
That's all Dibble ever does.

I beg to differ! I've heard him talk about anything but the game far too often. Maybe he's sharpened up his act.
   59. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:19 AM (#3231865)
Nicky!
   60. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:19 AM (#3231870)
Tricky Nicky
   61. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:19 AM (#3231872)
Bunt?
   62. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:20 AM (#3231874)
That's a nice bunt.
   63. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:20 AM (#3231875)
Check out yesterday's chatter. Dibble was reported talking about the political situation in Iran. How did that relate to pitch selection?
   64. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:20 AM (#3231877)
Pick him up Dusty.
   65. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:22 AM (#3231883)
Thank you.
   66. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:22 AM (#3231891)
Spapi is so Back. I tried for the curtain call. It didnt take.
   67. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:23 AM (#3231893)
That wall in left is inappropriately low!!!
   68. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:23 AM (#3231896)
Pick them up Youk.
   69. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:34 AM (#3231926)
Whatever was ailing him early Lester seems pretty freakin' comfortable now.
   70. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:34 AM (#3231927)
K's the side. Last one at 96, on what seems a slowish gun.(?) Nice.
I have a thing about lefty starters.
   71. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:38 AM (#3231935)
"You have to be disrespectful in your brain, as a pitcher."

Rob Dibble 6/24/09, 8:36PM
   72. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:38 AM (#3231937)
Dibble is a dick
   73. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3231938)
I approve.
   74. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3231940)
That ball was crushed.
   75. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:40 AM (#3231943)
An upper decker!
   76. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:40 AM (#3231945)
Oh dear. Mr Acta doesn't like his young pitchers leaving like that.

How many XBH has Stammen given up?
   77. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:40 AM (#3231946)
I an impressed by tek
   78. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:41 AM (#3231950)
I'll settle for a Cappy Jar who goes .230/.325/.440 any day.
   79. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3231952)
This is a good game for Colome. Villone has been almost as bad lately. Hopefully we'll see both.
   80. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3231953)
Hey Ronnie, how's Fort Lee? Let's grab a calzone!
   81. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3231959)
Btw, this is a great place to watch a game.
   82. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:43 AM (#3231961)
That crummy back up catcher for the Yankees just homered
   83. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:43 AM (#3231964)
Papi and Maris?
   84. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:44 AM (#3231966)
How are your seats Fly? What's the Sox fan/Nat fan ratio tonight?
   85. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:44 AM (#3231967)
Dibble is really dumb.
   86. IronChef Chris Wok Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:44 AM (#3231968)
I had to google what a Calzone was.
   87. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:44 AM (#3231970)
Clippard? When did he come up?
   88. Chris Needham Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:45 AM (#3231971)
Today. Wells DFAd.
   89. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:46 AM (#3231975)
Seats are not bad. Tomorrow is much better. Id say 70 percent sox fans tonight.
   90. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:46 AM (#3231976)
Clippard looks better with the goggles. Less "Inbred Delieverance Banjo Kid"-ish.

And later boys--root 'em home.
   91. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:47 AM (#3231978)
Did You Know?

You can celebrate your near-death experience in Las Nieves.
   92. tfbg9 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:47 AM (#3231981)
Oh--have a good time Fly!
   93. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:48 AM (#3231986)
They DFA'd the Kipper? I'll have to invent a new nickname. How about the Ex-Yankee Clippard?
   94. Chris Needham Posted: June 25, 2009 at 12:54 AM (#3232000)
Not bad.
   95. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 01:06 AM (#3232028)
Any DC denizens know a bookseller named Thrift It?
   96. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3232051)
fra, thoughts on the Ashes this year?
   97. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 01:14 AM (#3232057)
England are going to get a surprise. They think they are competitive.
   98. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 25, 2009 at 01:23 AM (#3232062)
England are going to get a surprise. They think they are competitive.

I hope you are right. Is Peterson in or out?
   99. fra paolo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3232063)
I wonder how many people still laugh at the Guzmán contract? The main problem with it is one bad year, and a bunch of time on the DL. Otherwise it wasn't such a bad investment. Although I'd still have stuck with Maicer Izturis at that time.
   100. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 25, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3232066)
Not exactly a pretty effort from Masterson.
