The woman over the shoulder of lefty batters behind the dugout annoys me already. She is doing nothing wrong just something about her is weirding me out.
   2. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4182592)
Man, Price just goes 0-2 on everyone.
   3. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:48 PM (#4182596)
Nice rug, Wade.
   4. booond Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:50 PM (#4182599)
I had to change the channel when Wade came on. Will feed dogs now.
   5. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:51 PM (#4182600)
Wade just won't shut up.
   6. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:52 PM (#4182601)
Just want to say that it pisses me off that the Sox haven't retired Boggs' number, it is a long overdue honor.
   7. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:52 PM (#4182602)
But yeah, he's talking a LOT.
   8. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:53 PM (#4182603)
At least Boggs is talking about baseball. And it's clear that he still watches games and follows the sport closely, which is more than you can say for most guys his age who played.
   9. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:55 PM (#4182604)
If he could only take a breath.
   10. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:58 PM (#4182606)
Boggs should apply for Keith Hernandez's job on the Just for Men commercials.
   11. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 07:59 PM (#4182607)
Seems to me like that ball could've been caught.
   12. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:01 PM (#4182608)
He changes subjects mid-sentence just like Jim Rice does so annoyingly on the NESN pre- and post-games.
   13. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:01 PM (#4182609)
I think it was catchable but would've been a tough play. Ross froze on it so it was going to be tough for him to do any kind of a dive.
   14. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:05 PM (#4182611)
For sure. After Ross froze he had no chance.
   15. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:05 PM (#4182612)
Buchholz giving up some hard ####### contact this inning.
   16. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:10 PM (#4182613)
Lucky that none of those left the park. Those could easily have been 3 home runs.
   17. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:11 PM (#4182614)
Yup. Problem is the way Price is throwing one might be enough.
   18. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:18 PM (#4182615)
Wasn't expecting that but I'll take it.
   19. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:19 PM (#4182616)
Middlebrooks had looked completely overmatched between the two ABs, until that swing.
   20. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:21 PM (#4182618)
He's looked overmatched for three weeks.
   21. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:23 PM (#4182621)
It's hard to say that given that he missed half that time with the hamstring.
   22. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:24 PM (#4182622)
Well, two weeks then.
   23. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:27 PM (#4182627)
How does a professional athlete #### up his back by bending over? Not even bending over to lift something, just bending over.
   24. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:28 PM (#4182628)
Because the human body is a weird thing.
   25. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:29 PM (#4182629)
He was favoring his shoulder too much.
   26. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:29 PM (#4182630)
By my count four of the eight half innings in this game have ended on a called third strike. Top one, bottom one, top two and bottom four.
   27. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:29 PM (#4182631)
Very glad that Good Buchholz came off the DL. I was worried that it might take him a while to get back into a groove since it took him so long to find his pitches this season.
   28. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:35 PM (#4182636)
I hate the bunt with Shoppach running from first.

And they don't show it on 0-0 or 0-1.
   29. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:37 PM (#4182637)
Brent Lillibridge, hit machine.
   30. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:38 PM (#4182638)
I hate that bunt even more.
   31. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:39 PM (#4182639)
There's some bad BIP luck.
   32. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:41 PM (#4182640)
Hardest hit ball of the inning is the only out.
   33. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:42 PM (#4182641)
I thought he got in.
   34. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:43 PM (#4182642)
Oh come the #### on
   35. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:43 PM (#4182644)
Me too. Eager to see a replay.
   36. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:45 PM (#4182646)
Never touched home plate.
   37. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:45 PM (#4182647)
Nope, good call, good block of the plate.
   38. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:45 PM (#4182648)
Zobrist got an RBI on that play, according to Remy.
   39. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 08:51 PM (#4182650)
Sigh. Good thing they had the IF in.
   40. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:03 PM (#4182653)
The fact that he can't hit is what keeps Ciriaco out of the big leagues, Jerry.
   41. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:06 PM (#4182655)
Lol.
   42. booond Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:06 PM (#4182656)
that was dumb.
   43. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:15 PM (#4182658)
Buchholz is working quickly tonight for the most part too. Nice change.
   44. Textbook Editor Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:19 PM (#4182662)
I can't be the only person to find the Carlos Pena Ice Cream Helmet promotion to be exceedingly funny... Because the helmet they are giving away has a left ear flap... which of course means Carlos Pena would never wear that helmet.

   45. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:28 PM (#4182665)
Tells McClure between innings he's fine to go one more, returns to mound, immediately loses his release point and can only throw one of five pitches to Scott anywhere in the vicinity of the strike zone.
   46. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:29 PM (#4182666)
Oh for ####'s sake.
   47. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:29 PM (#4182667)
What the ####? There's no way that didn't hit the bat
   48. booond Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:29 PM (#4182668)
And then hits Keppinger.
   49. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4182669)
And we're leaving him in? I thought he was on a PC of 85-90, and he's put 2 men on to lead off the inning. This is pants on head dumb.
   50. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4182674)
Albers wth the IBB. Doesn't Albers specialize in allowing grand slams?
   51. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:35 PM (#4182675)
Why IBB Matsui? Dumbbbbb
   52. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:38 PM (#4182676)
So glad we walked Matsui.
   53. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:38 PM (#4182677)
IBB looks brilliant now. Girardiesque.
   54. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4182678)
And squeezed, then a walk. Awesome IBB, Bobby!
   55. Textbook Editor Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4182679)
Albers coming back to Earth. When the bullpen's pixie dust wears off, we're going to be in trouble.
   56. Textbook Editor Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:40 PM (#4182681)
If you're scared to face Matsui v.2012 you might as well IBB every 1-7 hitter on every roster. Beyond dumb.
   57. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:40 PM (#4182682)
Walk, HBP, IBB, BB. Tied game. Jesus Christ on a tricycle.
   58. Textbook Editor Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4182683)
So glad Bobby V. channeled his inner Girardi this inning.
   59. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4182684)
And now lead lost on a sac fly. Still no hits.
   60. Textbook Editor Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4182686)
Honest to god I hate small-ball over-managing. If I wanted this crap I'd watch NL baseball.
   61. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:45 PM (#4182689)
Bill James' essay on the 1985 NLCS should be required reading for MLB managers. He was talking about the decision to pitch to Jack Clark and explained why it was the right move and detailed the risks of an IBB from both a statistical standpoint and a mental standpoint (the hitter knows you have to throw a strike with the bases loaded). it was excellent and really explained the situation very very well.
   62. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:47 PM (#4182693)
Rays have 4 runs on 3 hits. Awesome job, Team Bobby and Friends!
   63. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:52 PM (#4182698)
Now Price gets squeezed too.

Ellsbury!
   64. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:52 PM (#4182699)
Of course, the Red Sox go ahead run to make it 3-2 came without a hit, as well, thanks primarily to Price's non-pitching screwups (WP, and then the disaster play at third base when Ross should have been out).
   65. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4182702)
Unbelievable.
   66. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4182705)
Ciriaco can't get a bunt down? You'd think a speedy guy with no power like him would be a decent bunter.
   67. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4182706)
It was a very easy pitch to bunt in terms of location, too.
   68. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4182710)
Strike two to Ortiz wasn't close to the plate.
   69. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4182712)
Ball three in exact same location as strike two.
   70. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4182713)
And now the strike zone goes 8 feet off the outside corner? #### this ump.
   71. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4182714)
Er, 8 inches.
   72. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4182718)
Time for the DP.
   73. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:04 PM (#4182722)
I guess a hit with RISP would be too much to ask for.
   74. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:04 PM (#4182723)
No way MIddlebrooks sees a fastball in this PA.
   75. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4182724)
Way to use that leadoff double.
   76. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4182725)
And takes an awkward swing against the first pitch slider.
   77. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4182728)
Leadoff double by the fastest guy on the team, no less.
   78. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4182729)
That was ... not a good pitch.
   79. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4182731)
Why are we letting Miller face all these right-handed hitters?
   80. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:21 PM (#4182738)
Rodney's only blown save came against the Red Sox.
   81. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:25 PM (#4182744)
That was uglyyyy
   82. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:25 PM (#4182745)
Gonzalez can't even pinch hit?
   83. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:26 PM (#4182746)
Or Sweeney for Lillibridge?
   84. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:27 PM (#4182747)
Why the ####### fuck is Lillibridge hitting here?
   85. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:27 PM (#4182748)
How is Sweeney not up there for Lillibridge?
   86. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:28 PM (#4182749)
####, even Punto is better than Lillibridge against a RHP. This is so dumb.
   87. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:28 PM (#4182750)
Or Gomez? Isn't Gomez in the roster entirely for his bat?
   88. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:29 PM (#4182752)
#### you, Valentine.
   89. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:29 PM (#4182753)
Gomez got optioned to AAA to activate Buchholz.
   90. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:30 PM (#4182754)
Well that's a very good reason not to have Gomez bat.
   91. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:30 PM (#4182755)
And to quote Dan; #### you Bobby Valentine.
   92. Chip Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:31 PM (#4182756)
Lefties have actually done worse against Rodney than righties this year, I'd guess because his changeup has been more effective than at any point in his career.
   93. Dan Posted: July 14, 2012 at 10:56 PM (#4182765)
Sweeney apparently was unavailable with "tight hamstring". Jesus Christ, you can't play with two injured guys on the bench everyday. Use the ############# DL.
