I've got 2 tickets for this game available for face value, if anyone is in the area and wants them.

No McCann. No Escobar. Garret Anderson and his 85 OPS+ batting cleanup.

Beckett should pitch blindfolded just to make things challenging.

Anyone know anything about Richard Sullivan? Looks like a big, groundballing lefty from SCAD drafted last year who's already made it to Mississippi. If he passes the AA test looks like a viable back-of-the-rotation guy in the near future.

Jurrjen straight to the tandem closers would be nice.

The only thing I know about him is that he shall be called "Dick."

That would be nice, but the Braves won't score.

The Brave's 4-5-6 in the order shows a fundamental misunderstanding of baseball by Frank Wren and JS.

Papi!

I'm enjoying not having to be shocked when he shows flashes of his old self anymore.

Ah, the rare double to shortstop.
   8. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:01 AM (#3234702)
Was it ruled a double?
   9. Jay Seaver Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:03 AM (#3234705)
That's what they said on NESN; I haven't heard them revise it to anything else.

It's painful watching Anderson play in the outfield; luckily I'm not watching the game.
   11. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:12 AM (#3234722)
Was pretty confident of a double play there
   12. Jay Seaver Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:33 AM (#3234742)
If you're just going to sac-bunt, why pinch-hit there?

ProTip!

Don't wake up at 7am in DC when you have a boarding pass for a flight leaving BWI at 7am.

ProTip!

There is a non-stop MARC train from Union Station to Penn Station in Baltimore that does not stop at BWI.

I had a bad morning. I almost got in a fight with a dude in a Dwight Evans jersey last night, as well. There is about a 70% chance he was named either Sully or Murph.

Morning, Phil.

Did anyone, anywhere, comment on the fact that they let Ramon Ramirez make the last out last night, with Beckett on the bench?
   17. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3234780)
Not that I've seen Phil. I wouldn't have sent Beckett up to pinch hit though. Six run game, two outs, no one on, take the L and go home. Frankly I'd have told Ramon not to swing and risk injury.
   18. Jay Seaver Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:18 AM (#3234811)
OK, Paps, it's like a "save situation" now. Stop screwing around.
   19. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:20 AM (#3234815)
Seriously. We can't sell him now? Or yesterday? Or some time very soon? He is not going to save 20 games next year. Not a chance in hell.
   20. Jay Seaver Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:24 AM (#3234821)
I'll take the win. But Papelbon needs to stop making it so damn interesting.

(Yes, this is how spoiled we Red Sox fans have become. Of course, that's also what we've got to demand in the AL Beast)

There is a non-stop MARC train from Union Station to Penn Station in Baltimore that does not stop at BWI.

I was all ready to say "No there isn't. That was an Amtrak train." But there is a BWI-skipping DC-Baltimore train that leaves Union Station at 7:21. I did not know this, since my commute is in the opposite direction. I wish there were such trains at the time I would be able to use them.
   22. Answer Guy Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:41 AM (#3234853)
Oh, yeah, good win.

I was very surprised he swung at the last pitch, as I assumed he had strict instructions not to swing and the first two pitches hadn't dissuaded me from that.

This is at best, semi-bigoted. Unless Fly is Irish Catholic as well, then its OK.
