Did he miss the tag or something? Looked out to me on my very small screen.
   2. jacksone (AKA It's OK...) Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:12 PM (#3238268)
wow, that was an impressive run at that ball.
   3. DKDC Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:13 PM (#3238269)
Nice effort, Adam. Looks like this will be another laugher.
   4. jacksone (AKA It's OK...) Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:13 PM (#3238270)
I haven't seen anyone hit the wall that hard in a while.
   5. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:13 PM (#3238271)
You talking about the stolen base? I thought it was pretty close at least but Orsillo (on NESN) didn't seem too concerned about it and there was no argument so I assume Roberts was probably further in front of the bag than the angle implied.

Was I imagining things or was the ball actually in Jones' glove when he hit the wall?
   6. DKDC Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:14 PM (#3238274)
It looked like Jones caught the ball, but the glove fell off his hand with the ball in it.
   7. jacksone (AKA It's OK...) Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:16 PM (#3238275)
Looks like this will be another laugher.

This.
   8. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:25 PM (#3238280)
Well that was much better than last time around wasn't it?
   9. DKDC Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:26 PM (#3238281)
Nice effort, guys.
   10. Jay Seaver Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:34 PM (#3238290)
Wow, no effort on the Pedroia steal. Have the O's checked out already?
   11. DKDC Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:39 PM (#3238296)
I can only speak for O's fans, but we've certainly checked out already.
   12. gay guy in cut-offs smoking the objective pipe Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:49 PM (#3238301)
How's Smoltz looking so far? Can't complain about the results, of course, but how's his command?
   13. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:56 PM (#3238305)
Very good. He's been much more fastball heavy and seems to be really hitting his spots. Of course he just bounced a splitter in the left-handed batter's box but other than that he's looked very sharp.
   14. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:57 PM (#3238306)
What was with Baldelli on this? It seemed like he hesitated out there.
   15. gay guy in cut-offs smoking the objective pipe Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3238307)
Spoke too soon, I guess. :)
   16. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3238308)
Loves the outside corner
   17. DKDC Posted: June 30, 2009 at 11:59 PM (#3238310)
It's nice to see Smoltz still has his mid-90s strike zone working.
   18. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3238313)
The next Grady Sizemore!!!
   19. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3238314)
You know you aren't cut out for the majors when...
   20. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3238315)
Juan Pierre - my ass!
   21. gay guy in cut-offs smoking the objective pipe Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3238317)
I never would have guessed, back in the '90s, that Smoltz would be the last man standing out of the big three. I guess he's a year younger, but I always figured Maddux would pitch forever. I'm still not quite convinced he isn't going to show up on a roster again.
   22. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:03 AM (#3238318)
It's nice to see Smoltz still has his mid-90s strike zone working.

I agree - the 3-1 call to Scott earlier (he did walk , but still) was a joke
   23. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3238346)
Oh you've got to be ####### kidding me.
   24. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:41 AM (#3238349)
Any idea how long the delay will be?
   25. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 12:44 AM (#3238352)
Orsillo said it went through New York pretty quickly and weather.com goes from 85% chance of precipitation at 9PM to 20% at 10PM so hopefully that's a good sign.
   26. villageidiom Posted: July 01, 2009 at 01:39 AM (#3238435)
This rain delay has given me an opportunity to learn that Heidi Watney does nothing for me.
   27. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 01:50 AM (#3238453)
Game on!
   28. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 01:51 AM (#3238456)
Yeah, she's pretty worthless continuing the Ripken like streak of all sideline reporters adding nothing to the broadcast.
   29. villageidiom Posted: July 01, 2009 at 01:57 AM (#3238465)
She strikes me as someone who's simply biding time until something better comes along.
   30. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3238471)
She's hot enough that she should be able to land an ESPN gig at some point.
   31. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:04 AM (#3238477)
There's your blooper of the year. For those not watching the entire infield ran off the field after the second out of the inning.
   32. Jay Seaver Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:05 AM (#3238479)
There was general stupidity going on there, and guess what... Julio Lugo was involved.

Yeah, four others, but I'm blamin' Lugo.
   33. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:07 AM (#3238480)
That was absolutely priceless. Might be the funniest thing I've ever seen in a baseball game. No one even hesitated, they got the out and bang! off the field they ran.
   34. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:12 AM (#3238489)
Good thing no one was on.
   35. Jay Seaver Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:16 AM (#3238494)
Double digits. I kind of feel sorry for any O's fans who stuck around through the rain. I've done games like that and it's pretty miserable.
   36. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:17 AM (#3238495)
You could see on the replay that Pedroia started running off as Lugo's throw went to first. All his gritty fault.

Red Sox were really being risky when they kept working counts and taking pitches as the rain got heavier. Lucky it didn't bite them.

Very relieved to not see Smoltz come back out.
   37. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:19 AM (#3238497)
I went to a 22-1 Yankee win at Fenway in 2000 (I think, maybe '01, around that time). Anyway I stuck it out (the weather was good) and it wasn't that bad. The Yankee fans were tolerable because there was no real need to whoop it up to vociferously and at a certain point everyone gets a little goofy.
   38. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:23 AM (#3238502)
Masterson looks horrible after looking great.
   39. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:23 AM (#3238503)
Yeah, enough of this crap.
   40. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:24 AM (#3238506)
I wonder if anyone's noticed that he is completely gassed.
   41. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:24 AM (#3238507)
Okay. Enough.
   42. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:24 AM (#3238508)
Delcarmen's up but I don't think he is ready yet, he'd better get moving out there.
   43. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:27 AM (#3238511)
This Southwest commercial ("It's On") is condescending and annoying. No attempt to sell their product, just an empty catchphrase that sounds ridiculously uncool coming from the people saying it.
   44. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:28 AM (#3238512)
That was just an amazing self destruction.
   45. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:29 AM (#3238516)
Lugo, where are you?
   46. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:29 AM (#3238519)
Jesus, Delcarmen picking up where Masterson left off. Pedroia barely got the out at second.
   47. villageidiom Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:30 AM (#3238520)
Lugo, where are you?
Trying to be the same place where Pedroia was.
   48. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:31 AM (#3238524)
Nifty little piece of base running by Andino there.
   49. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:32 AM (#3238526)
3 really weak hits this inning.

Delcarmen got 2 dp balls there. Taking him out here is overmanaging.
   50. Answer Guy Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:32 AM (#3238528)
This is turning into a close game before my very eyes. Not good.
   51. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:33 AM (#3238531)
I don't care for this one bit. This is just begging to be a giveaway.
   52. Answer Guy Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:34 AM (#3238532)
Hopefully Beckett can pitch a while tomorrow. The pen's gonna be gassed.
   53. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:36 AM (#3238534)
How many weak bloopers can they drop in here? Terrible throw by Ellsbury.
   54. Answer Guy Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:36 AM (#3238535)
The freakin' tying run is on deck. This is getting ridiculous.
   55. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:37 AM (#3238536)
Make it stop.
   56. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:38 AM (#3238537)
C'mon Oki.
   57. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:39 AM (#3238538)
whew.
   58. villageidiom Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:39 AM (#3238539)
Thank goodness.
   59. Jay Seaver Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:40 AM (#3238541)
Ugh. I'm halfway between "let us never speak of that inning again" and hoping the Sox come up to bat looking to restore the rout.
   60. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:41 AM (#3238542)
Who's the hot chick with the bird?
   61. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:43 AM (#3238544)
It will be 10-6 in the 9th and they'll be out of relievers, so Pap will come in.
   62. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:48 AM (#3238557)
From the Globe:

(More Francona-Pedroia hilarity: Pedroia apparently messes with John Farrell often. When he wears on Farrell enough, Francona said, Farrell will literally pick him up by the by the back of his shirt with one hand. “Pedey’s little legs are just dangling,” Francona said, cracking up.)

Now that's a sight I'd like to see.
   63. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:49 AM (#3238559)
Damn!
   64. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:49 AM (#3238560)
Dammit, that would have been nice.
   65. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:49 AM (#3238561)
Oh good, a sneak peak of Ice Age at 10:45.
   66. gay guy in cut-offs smoking the objective pipe Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:50 AM (#3238564)
It will be 10-6 in the 9th and they'll be out of relievers, so Pap will come in.

Remember when that phrase brought reassurance and not dread? I miss those days.
   67. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:52 AM (#3238568)
Jesus ####### Christ.
   68. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:52 AM (#3238569)
Terrible slide there. He made it so his whole body had to be past the plate.

Wow, Bay plays super-deep.
   69. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:54 AM (#3238570)
Luke Scott is about 4 inches from two home runs.
   70. Answer Guy Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:55 AM (#3238571)
It's going to be closer than 10-6 in the 9th.
   71. Jay Seaver Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:55 AM (#3238572)
Gah. Could someone remind the bullpen that they're the best in baseball?
   72. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:55 AM (#3238573)
All they need to do is hold them to 3 runs over 2 IP! Please?
   73. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:56 AM (#3238575)
this is ####### annoying
   74. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:57 AM (#3238576)
Gimme a break.
   75. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:57 AM (#3238577)
This is ridiculous.
   76. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:57 AM (#3238578)
WHAT THE #### WAS THAT???
   77. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:57 AM (#3238579)
He's got to throw it to get the call.
   78. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:57 AM (#3238580)
Throw the ####### ball and get the out of baseline call dammit. Although that runner practically ran to the mound.
   79. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:58 AM (#3238581)
double.

play.

please.
   80. Answer Guy Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:58 AM (#3238582)
They're about to blow a 10-1 lead. I cannot believe this is happening.
   81. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:58 AM (#3238583)
Wieters has already hit the granny, he's just turned back time to do it again.
   82. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:59 AM (#3238584)
Is this #### really happening?
   83. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 02:59 AM (#3238585)
That's a poor 0-2 pitch.
   84. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:00 AM (#3238586)
breaking ball in the dirt outside now, please.
   85. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:00 AM (#3238587)
Next.
   86. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:01 AM (#3238588)
Ugh - not good guys
   87. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:01 AM (#3238589)
What a crap pitch
   88. Jay Seaver Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:01 AM (#3238590)
Un-frickin-real.
   89. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:01 AM (#3238591)
This sucks.
   90. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:01 AM (#3238592)
Not down enough. Still, it'd be nice to see someone catch one of these. 11 hits in last 2 innings? Still no one out?
   91. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:02 AM (#3238594)
What the #### has gone on ? Jesus - this is a fricking disaster
   92. Answer Guy Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:02 AM (#3238596)
I'm gonna remember this one for the rest of my life should they finish 1 game short of something. Good ####### Lord.
   93. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:04 AM (#3238599)
DP DP DP
   94. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:04 AM (#3238600)
Outs do happen. I know it. I've seen it with my own eyes.
   95. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:05 AM (#3238601)
Nice 2-0 at least.
   96. Answer Guy Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:05 AM (#3238602)
This is like watching Little League.
   97. Darren Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:06 AM (#3238603)
Catch that Kotteras!
   98. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:08 AM (#3238606)
My Kingdom for an out!
   99. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:08 AM (#3238607)
That was an ugly out.
   100. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 03:08 AM (#3238608)
that wasn't a nice catch, that was Baldelli ####### it up and bailing his ass out. You've played there enough you know where the wall is.
