Keep it going, boys...

This is probably the best pitching matchup of the series for the O's. Bergesen matches up pretty well against a patient lineup, although he hasn't faced many tough offenses yet.
   2. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 05:27 PM (#3239070)
Fearless prediction, win or lose, today will be a better day for Red Sox' fans.
   3. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 05:38 PM (#3239088)
That was a great win by the Sox last night!

Wait what?
   4. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 05:39 PM (#3239091)
I can't imagine how I would have reacted if I had (as planned) gone to bed during the delay).
   5. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 05:49 PM (#3239102)
This series has been a clinic on bad umpiring.
   6. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 05:54 PM (#3239108)
I'm not watching but it seemed like a good call. I mean, Pie was out, so what is wrong with that?
   7. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 05:57 PM (#3239115)
That's probably the worst called "swing" I've ever seen.
   8. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:01 PM (#3239123)
This is not going well.
   9. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:07 PM (#3239134)
Where did the damn pitching go!
   10. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:12 PM (#3239147)
That was pretty stupid from Pedroia.
   11. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:12 PM (#3239149)
Luke Scott just owns Beckett.
   12. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:13 PM (#3239150)
Out by a lot?
   13. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:21 PM (#3239174)
Strike 3.
   14. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:28 PM (#3239194)
This was not the day for Beckett to not have it.
   15. Dingbat_Charlie Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:42 PM (#3239221)
Hopefully Bergesen will be frustrating Boston with his underwhelming effectiveness for years to come.
   16. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:47 PM (#3239237)
It looks like things have gone well since I stepped away.

This is still anyone's game, so the O's need to knock Beckett out of the game and get to that soft bullpen (I kid, I kid).
   17. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:57 PM (#3239270)
Pie is just snakebitten. Look up his injury from spring training last year, if you don't believe me.
   18. Dingbat_Charlie Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:58 PM (#3239272)
Bergesen trying to challenge Reimold for ROY (somebody needs to Gillooly Ricky Romero, stat).
   19. Dingbat_Charlie Posted: July 01, 2009 at 06:59 PM (#3239273)
uh oh.. what happened to Pie?
   20. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:19 PM (#3239337)
wow - a ####### hit
   21. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:26 PM (#3239350)
Kotsay, Varitek - Green - rally time!
   22. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:28 PM (#3239353)
Dude.
   23. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:31 PM (#3239357)
Hey DKDC - crazy few days (annoying on this side - but that's baseball I guess)
   24. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:39 PM (#3239372)
I predict 9th inning fireworks, so I don't think the craziness is over yet.
   25. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:40 PM (#3239375)
Loss before an off day - awesome - team needs a rest though
   26. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:45 PM (#3239393)
####### tease
   27. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:47 PM (#3239395)
I hope that God remembers that last night was payback from the Mother's Day Massacre from a couple years ago, and that the Red Sox are not owed a comeback.
   28. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:49 PM (#3239402)
God remembers - no chance here especially down 0-2 for Bay
   29. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:50 PM (#3239403)
Bay in a funk
   30. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:50 PM (#3239404)
God, Bay is in a ridiculous slump.
   31. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:50 PM (#3239405)
Thank heavens for Jason Bay.
   32. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:51 PM (#3239406)
The strike zone is excellent
   33. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:51 PM (#3239408)
Nice strike zone, ump.
   34. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:51 PM (#3239409)
Amica had that 3-4 inches off the plate
   35. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:53 PM (#3239413)
Strike 1 to Bailey - is he serious?
   36. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:53 PM (#3239415)
Sherrill's curve: always a strike, apparently.
   37. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:54 PM (#3239417)
#### this tease ####
   38. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:54 PM (#3239418)
Dammit, Georgie.
   39. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:56 PM (#3239421)
Now the strike zone has shrunk again.
   40. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:58 PM (#3239427)
One hit please - one ####### hit
   41. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:58 PM (#3239428)
Oh, come on.
   42. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 07:59 PM (#3239432)
You've got to be kidding me.
   43. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:00 PM (#3239433)
YYYYYYES!
   44. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:00 PM (#3239435)
wow - just wow!!!
   45. Srul Itza Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:01 PM (#3239440)
What a difference a day makes.
   46. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:02 PM (#3239444)
ok dusty - this is it
   47. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:02 PM (#3239446)
This team is really efficient at wiping away any good will I have towards it.

Poor Brad Bergesen. Now end this freaking inning and get the walkoff.
   48. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:02 PM (#3239447)
ok - wtf happened there?? He made Bay and Ortiz look silly
   49. RB in NYC (Now with New iPhone!) Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:03 PM (#3239449)
Nice job by the O's pen today.
   50. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:04 PM (#3239452)
Draw a walk Dusty
   51. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:05 PM (#3239453)
Damn it Dusty - we needed to hit the lead there
   52. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:06 PM (#3239457)
Nice job by the O's pen today.

Better than ours yesterday! Only 4 runs in an inning
   53. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:06 PM (#3239458)
I'm surprised Lugo didn't #### up and get himself thrown out on the base paths somehow
   54. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:07 PM (#3239460)
Lugo is at SS - forget it - game over - nice comeback guys
   55. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:08 PM (#3239462)
Just time the fastball, Luke.
   56. RB in NYC (Now with New iPhone!) Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:09 PM (#3239469)
Better than ours yesterday! Only 4 runs in an inning
Well, now, to be fair, the O's only had a 4-run lead to protect. So I don't think anyone is covering themselves in glory these days.
   57. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:11 PM (#3239476)
Our future closer!
   58. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:11 PM (#3239480)
Seriously - I need to see the stats that Bay sux out there - because I still have not seen it
   59. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:12 PM (#3239481)
Free Baseball!
   60. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:12 PM (#3239482)
Man, the roar of Red Sox fans cheering in Camden Yards is pretty sickening. And I'm sure they'll actually have something to celebrate soon.
   61. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:13 PM (#3239484)
I should add that I had the worst nights sleep ever thinking about baseball. I decided to get up and watch at 5-1 only to allow Lu to get some sleep.
   62. Dingbat_Charlie Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:14 PM (#3239490)
just got out of a meeting. I see that order has been restored in the universe.
   63. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:17 PM (#3239497)
Bay in a real funk
   64. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:17 PM (#3239498)
Ortiz transferred his suck to Bay, evidently.
   65. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:23 PM (#3239511)
Roberts with the 15 pitch at bat coming up
   66. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:24 PM (#3239513)
That would not be good.
   67. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:25 PM (#3239518)
Phew.
   68. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:26 PM (#3239520)
Based on outs they got last night - the bullpen should be fresh
   69. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:28 PM (#3239526)
Well, that's pretty much game.
   70. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:28 PM (#3239527)
Yeah Jacoby Yeah
   71. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:29 PM (#3239530)
Should he try and steal third?
   72. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:30 PM (#3239532)
Nicky should've nailed him there. Terrible throw.
   73. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:30 PM (#3239534)
Should he try and steal home?
   74. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:31 PM (#3239535)
Doesn't Markakis usually have a good arm?
   75. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:31 PM (#3239536)
Do something for once in your life Lugo
   76. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:32 PM (#3239539)
Lugo? Julio Lugo?
   77. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:32 PM (#3239540)
That's a real shame.
   78. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:32 PM (#3239543)
Steal second now Lugo
   79. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:34 PM (#3239549)
I don't understand this at all.

For those of us without TV access is Papelbon warming up or is it going to Saito or Ramirez?
   80. Dingbat_Charlie Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:35 PM (#3239550)
I hate when your team is abysmal for a decade then improves just enough to make you care, but still actually suck.
   81. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:38 PM (#3239560)
Paps was warming earlier - Ramon looked ok though
   82. Dingbat_Charlie Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:41 PM (#3239567)
Pie needs to do something so I can use my canned trash talk expression: "Pie in your face!"
   83. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:42 PM (#3239569)
Paplebon better not #### around here
   84. Joel W Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:44 PM (#3239575)
How did he completely and utterly forget how to throw strikes?
   85. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:44 PM (#3239577)
Trade Jonathan Papelbon.
   86. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:45 PM (#3239579)
Papelbon stinks.
   87. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:48 PM (#3239591)
I forget...who did I make my bet with?
   88. karlmagnus Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:49 PM (#3239593)
I agree; trade Papelbon. We have at least three potential replacements and his value is falling like a rock.
   89. konaforever Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:49 PM (#3239594)
Revenge is so sweet.
   90. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:50 PM (#3239595)
Seriously - I need to see the stats that Bay sux out there - because I still have not seen it

Someone posted recently that Ellsbury has mediocre fielding stats, which I find just preposterous.
   91. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:51 PM (#3239600)
Dont walk Huff - ####
   92. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:51 PM (#3239602)
Luke Scott will win this game for the O's.
   93. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:52 PM (#3239604)
Makes up for last night.
   94. DKDC Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:52 PM (#3239606)
Now we get to watch captain jackass celebrate like he just won the world series.

How fun is this world that we live in!
   95. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:55 PM (#3239618)
Or not.
   96. Famous Original Joe C Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:57 PM (#3239623)
85. Fly Is In Mourning, According to LA Times Report Posted: July 01, 2009 at 04:44 PM (#3239577)

Trade Jonathan Papelbon.
86. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: July 01, 2009 at 04:45 PM (#3239579)

Papelbon stinks.

You guys stink, and you should both be traded.
   97. Famous Original Joe C Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:58 PM (#3239627)
I forget...who did I make my bet with?

Oh, it was me, by the way.
   98. Joel W Posted: July 01, 2009 at 08:59 PM (#3239630)
They can't trade Papelbon for anything of value. Who is going to believe that a team trades a healthy, good, closer like Papelbon?
   99. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 01, 2009 at 09:07 PM (#3239642)
Unbelieveable. Seriously, I feel for DKDC and any other Oriole fans out there. You finally get some payback for Mother's Day Miracle and this happens one day later, that isn't right.
   100. karlmagnus Posted: July 01, 2009 at 09:28 PM (#3239686)
Nationals look like a natural trading partner, because they need a closer. Papelbon for Zimmerman? (the 3B not the pitcher.)
