I am interested to see Perez pitch. He's been such a tremendously weird prospect, staying high on all the charts without actually ever doing a good job of getting outs at any level.

Not thrilled about the base runner but there is a part of me that is glad to see someone get plunked after four days of guys getting ##### slapped around on the mound.
   3. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:19 PM (#4191350)
And the base runner ceases to be a problem. Whoa, and Knisler ceases to be a problem.
   4. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:20 PM (#4191353)
Damn, what the hell did Kinsler say? That was fast.
   5. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:21 PM (#4191354)
Looked out to me, but Kinsler's reaction sure didn't look like it would warrant a tossin'. Guess I didn't hear what he said, and it's not like Wash stayed out there to fight it too long.

Sweet curve from Buchholz.

Am I imagining things or does he remind anyone else of Cliff Lee out there?
   8. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:32 PM (#4191373)
I'm seeing a lot of Matt Moore.
   9. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:37 PM (#4191380)
Shoppach should have all kinds of the green light here...

Perez pitched him like it.
   10. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:37 PM (#4191383)
Remember when Mike Aviles wasn't a sucking hole in the lineup?
   11. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:39 PM (#4191386)
Maddux seemed very fatherly in his mannerisms on that visit. Kid seems rattled.
   12. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:40 PM (#4191389)
Wow what is Aviles doing on tht 3-1 pitch?
   13. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:41 PM (#4191391)
Ugh. Aviles sucks.
   14. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:42 PM (#4191393)
It's irrational at this point but every time they show Bobby Valentine I want to punch him in the face.
   15. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:42 PM (#4191394)
Shockingly, once again, the biggest need this club has is a shortstop.

There are no good shortstops available in free agency this winter, if anyone was wondering.
   16. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:44 PM (#4191396)
At this point I want to see Iglesias everyday. I think he'll be a disaster with the bat but #### it, gimme something.
   17. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:46 PM (#4191400)
I don't. I think you really underestimate how bad a hitter he is. All the numbers suggest that AAA pitchers are knocking the bat out his hands. He'd be embarrassing to watch.
   18. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:48 PM (#4191402)
No, I get it, he'd have about a .400 OPS, I'm just extraordinarily grumpy and want everyone associated with this fiasco to get punched in the nuts.

It's terribly frustrating that this team can't find a non-embarrassing shortstop.
   19. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:50 PM (#4191403)
I mean who the hell are we rolling out there next year? Its dreadful.
   20. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:50 PM (#4191406)
Pretty sure I've never seen a 1-2-3 inning entirely comprised of 3-1 outs.
   21. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:51 PM (#4191407)
Scutaro was fine for a littlw while there, but the Red Sox current options look pretty bad.
   22. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:52 PM (#4191410)

I get that. I want fun, too. It's just, we had a couple dead years in the minors, and there isn't much young talent above single-A that look like fun.

I want Prior up, I don't care if he's gonna walk the ballpark. I want Morales back in the rotation.
   23. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:54 PM (#4191412)
Wow, that was a pretty amazing play by Andrus. I was completely sure that was a single off the bat.
   24. TVerik, the gum-snappin' hairdresser Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:57 PM (#4191415)
Can't that neck guy play acceptable SS?
   25. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:57 PM (#4191417)
Can't hit.
   26. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:58 PM (#4191419)
Which raises the question why he's DHing, but hey, that's the 2012 Boston Red Sox.
   27. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:58 PM (#4191420)
Neck guy?
   28. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:59 PM (#4191422)
Ciriaco, I assume. Dude has a lotta neck.
   29. TVerik, the gum-snappin' hairdresser Posted: July 24, 2012 at 08:59 PM (#4191423)
Matt knew who I was talking about.
   30. TVerik, the gum-snappin' hairdresser Posted: July 24, 2012 at 09:07 PM (#4191434)
An error, huh?
   31. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 09:14 PM (#4191441)
And another leadoff runner. Maybe they can do something this time?
   32. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 09:17 PM (#4191446)
Texas sideline reporter just talked to a nice young lady from England who randomly became a Rangers fan watching them on tv and is attending her first game.

After the interview, he says, "g'day mate, it's good to have you on the team."

That's Australia you idiot.
   33. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 24, 2012 at 09:31 PM (#4191461)
I'd like to see another replay. I think Middlebrooks grazed him on the butt there.
   34. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 10:59 PM (#4191516)
We sure seem to mess up pick off throws an awful lot between errors, and balks.

Yeesh, hope Beltre is ok, he looked a bit wobbly.

Yorvit Torrealba pinch runner, don't see that one every day.
   36. a bebop a rebop Posted: July 24, 2012 at 11:19 PM (#4191526)
Padilla is a sociopath, you guys. I've never been that viscerally disgusted by a hit-by-pitch. Three pitches after Elvis got in his head and he threw that weird stupid trick pickoff play.

Came here to ##### about Padilla, but...

It's actually a joke -- he says it to anybody who isn't from the US. E.g. people from Germany, Bulgaria, etc.

Bizarre kind of stare down between Aceves and Cruz there.
   38. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 24, 2012 at 11:30 PM (#4191534)
A win! Hallelujah! Clay Buchholz with a huge game.
   39. Dan Posted: July 25, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4192379)
No new thread, I guess?

I stop chattering for like 3 days and you guys can't even keep the place running?
   40. Dan Posted: July 25, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4192382)
Is Daniel Nava as defensive replacement an indictment of Crawford, the medical staff, or Valentine's decision-making? I'm asking because I don't honestly know, but it seems absurd.
   41. plink Posted: July 25, 2012 at 10:17 PM (#4192388)
An indictment of Crawford, I'd guess. We know his elbow isn't quite ready yet.
   42. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 25, 2012 at 10:45 PM (#4192402)
It's an indictment of someone. If Crawford can't go nine he needs to be on the DL. If he's just not as good as Nava then Nava should start (I think that's a bad idea if Crawford is healthy). This little league approach of having them split time is asinine. Of course Pedro Ciriaco is batting second and playing DH so all bets are off.
   43. Jose Is The Most Absurd Thing on the Site Posted: July 25, 2012 at 10:46 PM (#4192405)
And we're blaming Darren for the lack of chatter. It's not really his fault but a scapegoat was needed.
   44. plink Posted: July 25, 2012 at 11:22 PM (#4192421)
Ciriaco is not the problem!
