Ok, so finish the year on with 42 consecutive victories and we land on an even 100.

And some of you fools were worried...
   2. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:01 PM (#4212139)
Heh... Hersheiser just said that sarcasm doesn't play in Boston while sitting right next to Terry Francona. Clearly, he's never seen a Francona press conference.
   3. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:05 PM (#4212143)
Well, Carl Crawford didnt have the surgery yet apparently.
   4. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:11 PM (#4212146)
Hi guys, hope you are well. Been tough watching this crap lately ....

   5. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:18 PM (#4212150)
Hey Phil, hows it going?
   6. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:23 PM (#4212154)
Ok Jose, been really busy thanks - yourself?
   7. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:26 PM (#4212156)
I think Beckett only giving up one run in the first has to be considered something of a success.
   8. Dan Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:27 PM (#4212157)
Beckett has nothing and no command.
   9. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:28 PM (#4212158)
Pretty good. Actually enjoying my summer a lot, coached a terrific group of 11 year olds until a couple weeks ago. You must be pleased to see West Ham back in the top flight.
   10. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:30 PM (#4212159)
Lavarnway has been pretty overmatched since the call up.
   11. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:32 PM (#4212162)
Man announcers get all geeked up wheN both catchers are in the lineup.
   12. Dan Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:33 PM (#4212164)
Wow. Not a single home run from the DH spot since Ortiz got hurt? That's so pathetic.
   13. Dan Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:40 PM (#4212167)
The Yankees lose ARod and get a month of .370 production with 7 home runs at third base while the Red Sox get .230/0 at DH to fill in for Ortiz. That says a lot.
   14. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:46 PM (#4212169)
And Little Nicky Punto is the first person to not only get a hit, but actually make Kuroda throw some pitches.
   15. Dan Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:46 PM (#4212170)
That Ciriaco AB was pretty hilarious.
   16. Dan Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:55 PM (#4212171)
Beckett setting it on a tee for Jeter. Again.
   17. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:56 PM (#4212174)

Very happy, while my Australian Rugby League team is having their best season since 1989 as well - I'm still watching heaps of baseball when I can, just not chattering much at all - as mentioned I blame the amount I watch on the i phone now...
   18. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 08:58 PM (#4212176)
I cannot wait for Derek Jeter's career to end so announcers will talk about someone else.
   19. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:02 PM (#4212178)
Lavarnway has not exactly made a great argument for displacing Salty.
   20. Dan Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:03 PM (#4212179)
I am completely sick of watching Josh Beckett pitch. He just needs to go away.
   21. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:16 PM (#4212187)
Pedroia putting on a good at-bat; maybe they'll be able to do something this second time through.
   22. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:18 PM (#4212188)
Respect to Francona for saying they didn't handle the perception of Ellsbury well in 2010.
   23. Mayor Blomberg Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:25 PM (#4212194)
Looks like Ichiro wanted to.
   24. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4212201)
I thought he tagged him
   25. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4212202)
Salty kind of looks double-out there, honestly.
   26. Mayor Blomberg Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4212203)
well, aside from tagged and outside the baseline, yeah, he was safe.
   27. Liver of blaspheming 'zop Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4212207)
Since my fiance's move to NYC, I haven't watched nearly as much of the Sox as in past years.

So maybe this is news to no one.

But why the hell is Josh Beckett carrying around a 6 month fetus? He must have put on 20 lbs from last season, when he already wasn't the slimmest model on the runway, so to speak. Ya think you could find an extra MPH on the fastball if you dropped the spare Goodyear from arose your waist, Joshy-boy?
   28. Dan Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4212208)
Why is Beckett still in this game?
   29. Mayor Blomberg Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4212209)
Is Beckett on salary, or is he hourly an employee?
   30. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:51 PM (#4212210)
I don't know that he's that much heavier than last year, but he is downright painful to watch.
   31. Liver of blaspheming 'zop Posted: August 19, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4212211)
I don't know that he's that much heavier than last year

The paunch is kind of out of control.
   32. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 10:04 PM (#4212216)
It takes a special kind of suck to lose a game on the basis of extra base hits by Jeter and Ichiro.
   33. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4212219)
Lavarnway hits the ball!
   34. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 19, 2012 at 10:29 PM (#4212222)
Miller is one of the guys I hope to see back next year. He's really been vicious to lefties.
   35. Jay Seaver Posted: August 19, 2012 at 10:48 PM (#4212228)
Gotta also like Tazawa living up to some of the original hype and end-run around NPB from three years ago.
   36. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: August 19, 2012 at 10:52 PM (#4212233)
.322/.344/.506

That's what Ichiro is hitting for the Yankees. You just knew he was going to do well for them.
   37. nick swisher hygiene Posted: August 19, 2012 at 11:58 PM (#4212267)
let me state for the record that both Ichiro's HR tonight were legit bombs.
on ESPNewengland, they claimed otherwise...
   38. RollingWave Posted: August 20, 2012 at 04:40 AM (#4212306)
If Ichiro hits like this the rest of the way.. does that prove...

A. NYYS is a band box beyond imagination?

B. Safeco is where all hitters go to die?

C. Kevin Long should win the Nobel peace prize?

D. Every Mariners coach should be fired?

or all of the above?
