You know, as much as west coast road trips make me into a zombie at work, I kind of like being able to see a movie AND baseball the same night.

I could see the rest of the American League growing to hate Mike Trout.

If the Sox are playing Iglesias, I expect nothing to get through the left side. Don't care how hard it's hit.
   4. plink Posted: August 28, 2012 at 10:26 PM (#4220779)
Ooh, but Iglesias did look good on that 3rd out. (Not that it was a difficult play, but still...)

Ooh, some chatters!

Hey, who is the new sideline reporter and why? Kudos for not following the young/model/clueless pattern of the past.
   6. Jay Seaver Posted: August 28, 2012 at 10:32 PM (#4220783)
Because the score of the actual game doesn't really matter:

Lavarnway 0 - Saltalamacchia 1

She's been the sideline reporter for the Bruins for a few years now, probably just filling in.

Naoko Funiyama; she used to work at a NH paper before NESN snapped her up after she was able to translate a press conference with Matsuzaka when he was signed.

She has, naturally, been doing Bruins stuff ever since.
   9. plink Posted: August 28, 2012 at 10:41 PM (#4220793)
Should've had that, Iglesias.
   10. Jay Seaver Posted: August 28, 2012 at 10:42 PM (#4220795)
No kidding. Granted, from his reputation, I am expecting Iglesias to use The Force to draw balls into his glove right off the bat.
   11. Jay Seaver Posted: August 28, 2012 at 10:47 PM (#4220799)
Apparently the book on Iglesias's bat is right, though - out before NESN returns from the commercial break.

Loney useful!
   13. Jay Seaver Posted: August 28, 2012 at 11:37 PM (#4220815)
Hey, this kind of looks like 2011 Ellsbury a bit.
   14. Jay Seaver Posted: August 29, 2012 at 12:19 AM (#4220836)
OK, that pounce by Lavarnway was kind of awesome.
   15. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 12:19 AM (#4220837)
Nice catch by Lavarnway! Stupid bunt.
   16. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 12:30 AM (#4220845)
Uhh... did Kendrick actually tag Pedroia?
   17. Jay Seaver Posted: August 29, 2012 at 12:31 AM (#4220846)
Ooh, Lavarnway just a couple inches away from being even with Salty for the night.
   18. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 12:38 AM (#4220851)
Nice to see Lavarnway showing power.
   19. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 12:53 AM (#4220856)
If Iglesias can't hit, he really should learn how to bunt.
   20. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 12:54 AM (#4220857)
...and not to hit into double plays.
   21. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 01:01 AM (#4220861)
NESN show any useful replays of the HBP? Angels broadcast is useless.
   22. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 01:06 AM (#4220864)
Wouldn't this be the perfect time to take out Aceves? Why didn't they have someone up earlier?
   23. plink Posted: August 29, 2012 at 01:09 AM (#4220867)
Alas. Quite a good pitch to Trout. But really, Aceves should have been taken out after the "HBP".
   24. Jay Seaver Posted: August 29, 2012 at 01:09 AM (#4220868)
No on the replay, although Remy claimed he could see dirt kicked up behind the hitter. And screw you, Aceves.
   25. Textbook Editor Posted: August 29, 2012 at 01:18 AM (#4220873)
Someone will have to explain why the guy we signed to close isn't closing so the guy with 8 blown saves + a suspension for verbally abusing the manager can be in for the save.

I mean, I know Aceves may be nuts and thus you don't want him to go all Urbina on you, but, jeez... if he's that nuts you release him, and if he isn't then stop having him close games.
