Balco v. Boras

M's draw first blood once again with an Ichiro triple followed by a Jamal Strong sac fly. Maybe their luck will be better this time around. . . .

I like the Angels batting helmets.
   4. Tiboreau Posted: September 04, 2005 at 02:25 AM (#1596342)
And there goes the early lead with Erstad's single . . . it's only the first and things already don't look good for Franklin.

so who has more wins Ervin Santana or Washburn?
   6. Tiboreau Posted: September 04, 2005 at 02:41 AM (#1596374)
Ah, Ojeda reminds me: the other Miguel O. is hitting .323/.360/.538 with the Padres. I don't expect it to continue (only 3 BB in 93 AB), but it's nice to see him finally do well.

so who has more wins Ervin Santana or Washburn?

Yeah, Santana has 8 wins to Washburn's 7. It looks like Washburn's having the lucky season of his career (an on a contract year, too), and the Angels aren't givin' him much run support.

Nice play by both Quinlan and Erstad.

Where is the crew tonight?

Anybody have any sleepers for fantasy football?
Maybe a rookie expecting to start?

So did anybody fall out of the wild card race today?
   10. Bob T Posted: September 04, 2005 at 03:16 AM (#1596430)
Yankees win over Oakland. Cleveland loses to Minnesota.

There is your wild card race update.
   11. Barca Posted: September 04, 2005 at 04:13 AM (#1596499)
It is too bad Washburn isn't one of the Angel aces.
   12. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: September 04, 2005 at 04:46 AM (#1596546)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
   13. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: September 04, 2005 at 04:51 AM (#1596549)
I guess the Angels won't be taking advantage of the Oakland loss.
   14. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: September 04, 2005 at 04:58 AM (#1596560)
Man, since when did the bullpen get so terrible?
   15. incarnadine Posted: September 04, 2005 at 05:25 AM (#1596585)
Guardado made that interesting.
   16. Tiboreau Posted: September 04, 2005 at 09:17 PM (#1597248)
No Sunday Game Chatters, eh?

Jeff Harris is struggling with his command; he's leavin'em up in the zone and the Angels are taggin'em.

Yuniesky Betancourt has made some spectacular plays, or so I've heard (listenin' on the radio).

How come MS didn't let Colon go longer?
   18. Barca Posted: September 04, 2005 at 10:01 PM (#1597287)
Angels get a near season high 5 runs and Yan has let the other team back in it.

How come MS didn’t let Colon go longer?

Back tightness.
   20. Tiboreau Posted: September 04, 2005 at 10:33 PM (#1597317)
The M's announcers are discussing Matt Thornton, the lefty with uncontrollable heat, who turned to Randy Johnson for any pointers. Unless you can learn a 90 mph slider, its too little too late methinks, Mr. Thornton.

They also mentioned that Ryan Franklin threw 5 knuckleballs last night. The papers have always discussed how Franklin has a decent knuckler whenever the M's faced Tim Wakefield. Franklin would say that he was told he didn't need to throw it since he had decent enough stuff. Guess his poor August performance forced his hand. . . .
   21. Barca Posted: September 04, 2005 at 10:34 PM (#1597318)
The Angels have scored 5 or more runs three times since Aug 14th.
   22. Tiboreau Posted: September 04, 2005 at 10:45 PM (#1597331)
They better wake up soon; they'll be playin' Boston next. (Of course, Boston's pitchers will probably help them out a little. . . . )
   23. Tiboreau Posted: September 04, 2005 at 10:49 PM (#1597335)
Shields is struggling with his control. . . .
