To be fair, Hendrickson has such a mediocre fastball that even the corpses can hit it. It won't kill them to have them in the top 6 as much as it normally would.

Is there a way to find the game chatter or a game thread of some kind from games 4 and 5 of the 2001 world series?

Where are all the Yankees fans???
   12. . . . . . . Posted: September 08, 2005 at 11:07 PM (#1606008)
Hey Bernal, Dusty Rhodes called, he says to remind you that he still has the Indians's dignity that he kept after the 1954 mugging. He says he might will it back to you guys when he dies, just to be nice, but until then, your franchise will still be an embarassment, just like its been for over 50 years. Must be brutal to be alternatively shitty or o-so-close for so long. But I wouldn't know, what with all the winning and all. If you want, you can tell me what its like. There's a long game ahead. I'm curious, really. Really. Tell me what its like to always lose. The pathos, the pain. I'd love to know. It must be almost invigorating! Like a sauna? Yes, tell me, tell me what its like to root for a sad-sack piece of #### team.

Because they used up their ####### pixie dust in 2002.

The Yanks have done dirty things to them in the 2nd half as well, lest we forget.

Before that we did it via IRC or AIM Chat.

Check out this question from the ARod chat today. haha

bw22: Fans are now voting at MLB.com for the greatest Latino Team of all-time, of which you are a nominee. How do you feel about MLB and Chevy, the program sponsor, creating this program to recognize Latino greats, past and present?

How would I know? I am not a Yankees fan.

Oh, this year has been painful. Yes, there have been days when I swear I'll never watch them again. I was there on Tuesday, when they stomped on their own throats and watched the game slip away...and I felt pain, deep, all-enveloping pain. But this is only one season, and that was only one game. I want to fell your anguish-I can't imagine 50 years of this. Tell me about Mesa, about being on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1987... tell me about going to games at the worst stadium in professional sports. Enlighten me. I can be your disciple of suck.

Posada never had more double plays than walks in a season. Posada also didn't take steroids. Seriously though, I guess it depends on how much you value OBP over other offensive stats.

jesus christ Mastui.

Posada is done. His BB/PA and ISO are waythefuck off his career norms. Don't let the semi-acceptable batting average fool you, he's donedonedone.

I think arguing that "Slim" Rodriguez was a better catcher than Posada is a bit ridiculous. He cheated.
   57. Bernal Diaz has an angel on his shoulder Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:12 AM (#1606195)
I would say that Yankee Stadium is a pitcher nutral park. I don't think it favors either pitchers nor batters.

I think arguing that “Slim” Rodriguez was a better catcher than Posada is a bit ridiculous. He cheated.

So where would you rank Giambi and Sheffield then?

Pudge never admitted he too steroids unless I missed something.

Posada has been lousy, but I wouldn't be surpried at a bounce back season next year.

Disgraceful. Just disgraceful. Mark Hendrickson is the very definition of Replacement Level.
   60. Bernal Diaz has an angel on his shoulder Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:16 AM (#1606210)
Using Park Factors since 1995 Yankee Stadium has been a hitters park 3 times a pitchers park 7 times and dead on neutral once.
   61. 1k5v3L Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:19 AM (#1606223)
Cantu is having a very good season.

Hendrickson is the definition of AZ's rotation. Sans Webb.
   62. rLr Is King Of The Romans And Above Grammar Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:23 AM (#1606231)
Cantu is just plain good. That it took an Alomar retirement to give him the job speaks poorly of the D-Rays, although I suspect he would have seized it at some point this season.
   63. rLr Is King Of The Romans And Above Grammar Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:23 AM (#1606235)
Jonny Gomes is easily the ROY. I don't consider it very close.

I agree though he has almost no chance of winning it since he'll finish with only 400 PAs or so. Really the only deserving competition for him at this point is Huston Street.

He needs a lot of tough luck to balance out his good luck earlier in the season, methinks.
   68. rLr Is King Of The Romans And Above Grammar Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:30 AM (#1606264)
Jim, you don't think 25 homers and a .290 average won't give him a shot? That's tough to ignore. I think Iguchi belongs in the discussion, though the same knuckleheads who eliminated Matsui from their mental competition would doom his candidacy. Not that Matsui deserved the ROY.
   69. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:31 AM (#1606267)
Good job Jorge. Yankees seem to be trying to change their approach to Hendrickson.
   70. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:32 AM (#1606277)
Lawton has been Putrid for the Yankees.
   71. rLr Is King Of The Romans And Above Grammar Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:32 AM (#1606278)
Ruben seems not to have gotten the New Approach memo. He has been really terrible since he came off the DL.
   72. Jim Wisinski Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:33 AM (#1606280)
Oh, I think he'll have a shot, a good finish with a few more home runs, particularly if he can rack up some RBIs, and I can see him finishing 2nd. I think the low ERA, saves, and playing on a contender with more national attention combo that Street has will be too much for Gomes to overcome though. The media attention is probably the biggest hurdle, it just isn't easy for a Rays player to get enough notice to win the votes necessary.
   73. 1k5v3L Posted: September 09, 2005 at 12:37 AM (#1606295)
Lawton was cheap, but it's clear now why that was. Pitt did a nice job of dumping him...
