Why the #### are you obsessed with throwing to first with a slow ass 1B over there, Clay? Jesus.
   2. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 08:16 PM (#4200649)
As a team the Sox spend far too much time worrying about base runners. Get the hitters out and you're fine.
   3. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:06 PM (#4200658)
Great. Outside and low pitch called a strike, so Crawford feels like he has to chase the next one there and rolls a grounder to second base.
   4. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:15 PM (#4200660)
So when we finish under 500, that seals Valentines fate right?
   5. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:43 PM (#4200663)
And Miller's turned back into a pumpkin.
   6. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:44 PM (#4200664)
I'm shocked that they are blowing this.
   7. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:44 PM (#4200665)
You would think so, Jose, but it's hard to predict what this team will do anymore. Management has proven that they're not especially smart, so you can't really count on them making the obvious moves.
   8. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4200667)
Surprised Morneau didn't hit a grand slam on that meatball.
   9. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:52 PM (#4200668)
Nice job by Aceves to get out. That pitch to Morneau was just low enough.
   10. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:53 PM (#4200669)
Aceves did a good job to get out of that with only 1 run scoring, but gets hung with a blown save for his efforts.
   11. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4200671)
Wow.
   12. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4200673)
Didn't see that one coming.
   13. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:14 PM (#4200680)
Why run a pick off play at second, get the friggen hitter.
   14. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4200681)
Wouldn't hate Breslow here with the lefties.
   15. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:20 PM (#4200684)
Awesome.
   16. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:21 PM (#4200685)
When did Shoppach become so terrible at defense?
   17. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:24 PM (#4200687)
Wouldnt hate Breslow for the lefties here.
   18. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:25 PM (#4200689)
Why was that shocking, Don? Have you been watching a different team than I have all season?
   19. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:25 PM (#4200690)
Yup.
   20. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:26 PM (#4200691)

I had the same thought. There was no way he was getting Mauer out there.
   21. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:26 PM (#4200692)
And we go to Breslow after Aceves gives up 4 runs. Oh, okay.
   22. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:26 PM (#4200693)
Prediction, the Boston Red Sox have spent their last day over .500 this year.
   23. Chip Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:26 PM (#4200694)
I don't understand challenging Mauer there with a fastball. You've got an open base.
   24. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:28 PM (#4200695)
And Aviles, Shoppach, Punto due up.
   25. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:29 PM (#4200696)
Over/under 10.5 pitches...what do you take?
   26. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:29 PM (#4200699)
For the bottom of the 9th? Under, easily.
   27. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:33 PM (#4200701)
Lot of drama here...will Middlebrooks see three or more pitches?
   28. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:34 PM (#4200702)
Nine pitches, Dan is a winner! Please choose a stuffed animal for that young lady at your side.
   29. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:35 PM (#4200703)
Don, these aren't tough, they are predictable.
   30. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:35 PM (#4200704)
What was that, 8 pitches? 3 -4 -1?
   31. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:35 PM (#4200705)
oh Lavarnway saw 5, so 9. Sorry.
   32. Dan Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:37 PM (#4200706)
I really don't blame any of that on Aceves. He came in and pitched a tough 8th inning followed by a long wait after the 2 run rally. Breslow should've been in for the 9th, or at least after the first guy reached base. Instead, Valentine has to stick with the anointed closer for a full 2nd inning even when he's clearly tiring and let him blow the game.
   33. Chip Posted: August 04, 2012 at 10:40 PM (#4200707)
Bad teams don't have over .500 records on the road at this point in the season, and yet this team does. Even the most mediocre Red Sox teams of the recent past have played well at Fenway; this team's home failures are just absurd.
