I put this in ST, but I'm officially terrified of the trading deadline now with Cherington as GM and LL having greater pull.
   3. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 06:51 PM (#4184270)
According to Olney the Sox are "aggressively" pursuing Ryan Dempster.

Not sure tht is going to help your mood Dan.
   4. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:01 PM (#4184278)
Crawford apparently made it through BP, so he's not all that delicate.
   5. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:05 PM (#4184279)
That was what fueled my fear, José.
   6. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:08 PM (#4184284)
Also, trading Youkilis really impacted this lineup, as he was the only RHH that could hit in the top 4 with Pedroia injured. So now we have 4 lefties in a row setup to get mowed down by Matt Thornton in any high leverage situation.
   7. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:12 PM (#4184287)
Can someone explain to my why Ciriaco is playing over Punto vs RHP, btw? Does Valentine think that he's actually a .470 BABIP hitter?
   8. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:12 PM (#4184288)
New graphics for NESN.
   9. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:13 PM (#4184290)
YOOOOOOOOOUK!
   10. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:14 PM (#4184291)
Given the stories I find it interesting that Beckett was applauding.
   11. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:15 PM (#4184292)
Dan - with Cook pitching having Ciriaco in place of Punto might make sense, I think he's the better defender.
   12. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:15 PM (#4184293)

Golf clap.
   13. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:17 PM (#4184296)
What the #### is Middlebrooks doing?
   14. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:17 PM (#4184297)
Nice job, Adrian.
   15. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:18 PM (#4184298)
And Gonzalez can't make that throw either. What a ###########.
   16. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:18 PM (#4184299)
Why the #### would you ever make that throw?
   17. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:19 PM (#4184300)
In praise of Bobby at least he didn't shove Ciriaco into the number two spot in the order to "break up the lefties."
   18. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:19 PM (#4184301)
Why the #### would you ever make that throw?

Crack?
   19. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:21 PM (#4184303)
Prediction: Crawford gets two hits but pulls a hammy tracking down a fly ball.
   20. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:23 PM (#4184305)
Not that I'm surprised but it would have been nice for a "we're with ya' Carl" standing O for Crawford there.
   21. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:23 PM (#4184307)
Nice to see him chasing pitches out of the zone and hitting weak grounders.
   22. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:26 PM (#4184310)

He did that the other day though.
   23. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:26 PM (#4184311)
Nice to see him chasing pitches out of the zone and hitting weak grounders.

But now he's hitting weak grounders where there are no fielders! It's a new and improved approach!
   24. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:28 PM (#4184312)
At least he looks like he's running well.
   25. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4184314)
Axelrod seems to be leaving a lot of pitches up.
   26. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:34 PM (#4184315)
The hit was nice, but last year's Gonzalez deposits that pitch into the Monster seats.
   27. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:39 PM (#4184321)
I feel like this trade deadline would be a nice time to sell high on Salty and install Lavarnway as C, but Cherington will probably trade Lavarnway to Chicago for Dempster.
   28. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:43 PM (#4184322)
####### ridiculous.
   29. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:43 PM (#4184323)
I'm enjoying the appalling defense tonight. This is great.
   30. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:44 PM (#4184324)
Looked to me like Ciriaco and Aviles were both headed to cover the bag. Didn't that come up in another game recently?
   31. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 07:51 PM (#4184331)
I don't believe in him but as long as he wants to keep hitting I won't complain.
   32. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:22 PM (#4184347)
Wait, was there a baseball game going on while they were talking to the racing guy? I must have missed it.
   33. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:31 PM (#4184352)
I LIKE Remy and Ordillo and I've switched to listening to music during games. The amount of ancillary BS has become overwhelming. I'm not sure why but the fact that they feel the need to promote this stuff ("coming up Mike Aviles shares his paella recipe") has pushed me over the edge.
   34. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:32 PM (#4184354)
This isn't helped by Jenny Dell being about as comfortable on camera as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
   35. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:33 PM (#4184357)
MVPedro!
   36. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:42 PM (#4184364)
Neither starter should be expected to go much deeper. As hot and humid as it is I gotta think 85-90 pitches is bout as good as it is going to get. Tomorrow it's supposed to be worse.
   37. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:42 PM (#4184366)
Have a day Youk.
   38. Textbook Editor Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:45 PM (#4184368)
All we need now is Valentine saying Youkilis is in the twilight of his career.

Dempster? Really? I mean, I guess it all depends what the price is, but jeez... talk about buying high.
   39. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 08:54 PM (#4184373)
Getting used to the new graphics. The inning is hard to read and I don't like that the pitch total goes away when the pitch is thrown but I'm getting there.
   40. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:10 PM (#4184383)

   41. Phil Coorey is a T-Shirt Salesman Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4184390)
Hopefully some 8th inning magic coming up
   42. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4184392)
And Gonzalez' wand gives them the magic!
   43. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4184393)
Wait, our first baseman is allowed to hit a home run?

Welcome back AG!

HOLY #### DID THAT JUST REALLY HAPPEN??
   46. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4184396)
How did Ortiz manage to hurt himself on a walk and a HR?
   47. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4184397)
How about that.
   48. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:35 PM (#4184398)
How did Ortiz manage to hurt himself on a walk and a HR?

Red Sox medical staff
   49. Dan Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:35 PM (#4184399)
So Ortiz is hurt. Good thing Youkilis isn't around to fill in for him.
   50. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:36 PM (#4184400)
It would be so fitting for the 2012 Red Sox if Ortiz managed to seriously hurt himself on that.
   51. Phil Coorey is a T-Shirt Salesman Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:37 PM (#4184401)
So now Ortiz is injured - this season officially is just silly
   52. Koot Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4184405)
If you're tired of hearing the usual nonsense from NESN, you should try the Chicago broadcast. It just became dead silent after the Red Sox pulled ahead.
   53. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:43 PM (#4184407)
Insurance runs good.

The "He Gone!" crew and the Tampa crew I just can't listen to anymore; I must EI instead. Orioles crew is awful too in their own pompous way, but somehow not as grating to me as the White Sox & Tampa.
   55. Textbook Editor Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:46 PM (#4184409)
must = mute

editor, heal thyself...
   56. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:47 PM (#4184410)
Let's throw strikes today ok Alfie?
   57. Jose Can Still Seabiscuit Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:48 PM (#4184412)
Does EI allow you to choose your broadcast?
   58. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 16, 2012 at 09:51 PM (#4184413)
Let's throw strikes today ok Alfie?

The trick is getting the umpire to call them, I guess.
   59. Textbook Editor Posted: July 16, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4184421)

Does EI allow you to choose your broadcast?

Sometimes--on nights when there are not a lot of games. When there's a full slate of games, you usually get the home team's feed (though not always, and I've never been able to figure out a pattern).

   60. Koot Posted: July 16, 2012 at 10:29 PM (#4184437)
I haven't listened to Tampa in years. It seemed like everytime a call didn't go their way, it was a conspiracy spearheaded by the Red Sox.
