Given the playoff race, all games are big ones from here on in.

Therefore, Timmy will stink up the joint, and I'll be
along for the ride.
   2. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:29 PM (#3306158)
Therefore, Timmy will stink up the joint

And Phil Coorey's head will explode yet again!

I see Konerko hit a triple. I've seen Konerko on tv a few times and well he doesn't look to fast. Did he get it right in the triangle(oops that sounds kind of suggestive...)
   3. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:31 PM (#3306162)
Who's watchin'?
   4. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:32 PM (#3306163)
Oh, hey Hugh.
   5. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:34 PM (#3306167)
Nice AB Youksie. Pretty.
   6. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:37 PM (#3306170)
You know, I'm a big Ted Kennedy fan. Perhaps irrationally so. I really, really liked the man. But the Sox organization is laying it on a little thick tonight, I think.
   7. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:38 PM (#3306171)
All right. Papi continues to hit HR's to left. Good.
   8. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:38 PM (#3306173)
Who's watchin'?

Well, kind of gamedaying. At work, its morning here. Good of Papi to tie it up for Wake.
   9. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:43 PM (#3306182)
I'm not a fan at all, Fly. And I can't help but wonder if anybody from the Kopechne clan is tuned in to the ballgame?
The guy was an important figure, obviously.
   10. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:45 PM (#3306186)
Wake looked good there.
   11. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:52 PM (#3306194)
Ellsbury hits into his share of DP's for a burner...
   12. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:53 PM (#3306196)
11 so far for Ells.
   13. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:53 PM (#3306197)
Ellsbury smokes dope?
   14. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:57 PM (#3306200)
Never heard that term Bivens. Thome is no burner.
   15. tfbg9 Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:59 PM (#3306202)
Lets score on The Count here in the 4th.
   16. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 26, 2009 at 11:59 PM (#3306203)
Morning all! Hugh - I love Wake - check the username!
   17. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:00 AM (#3306207)
How is V Mart going behind the plate?
   18. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3306209)
I dunno, but I'm guessing his catcher's ERA as a Sock is bad.
   19. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:03 AM (#3306213)
Thome looks like he could have been Joe Friday's partner.
   20. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3306214)
Wow, he is so much better now than he was back in May.
   21. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:06 AM (#3306215)
Even with the K.
   22. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:07 AM (#3306218)
Tough pitch from Floyd.

It is my impression that in pitcher's duels, Wake is more often that not the one who's the hard-luck loser.
What with the PB's, SB's, and choking.
   23. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:09 AM (#3306220)
Show the f*cking game please.
   24. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:10 AM (#3306223)
F*ck the knuckleball.
   25. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:11 AM (#3306224)
He got spiked.
   26. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:13 AM (#3306226)
Little bit, yes. I hope he's really OK.

Got out of it on two squibbers.
   27. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:13 AM (#3306227)
OK, off the ledge, teddy...again.
   28. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:13 AM (#3306228)
Ah, easy come, easy go, Bivvo.

Lets get some runs.
   29. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:17 AM (#3306233)
Morning all! Hugh - I love Wake - check the username!

You say that now mate, what'll they throw him into a tie game in the playoffs...

Though all jokes aside, he seems to be cruising right now, 60 pitches through 5 is tidy.
   30. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:24 AM (#3306235)
Nice play by the Prodigal Fish.
   31. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:24 AM (#3306237)
Is it me, or has Remy lost a little of his edge on the anti-depressants?
   32. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:26 AM (#3306240)
Yeah--he seems less giggly.
   33. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:27 AM (#3306242)
And here it comes...
   34. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:29 AM (#3306244)
The lower BAPIP for knucklers has been on display so far--lots of non-squared-up little bloopy popo-ups, squibbers.
   35. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:30 AM (#3306246)
IF WE SCORE-TAKE HIM OUT!!!
   36. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:32 AM (#3306249)
SEA-BASS-SHED!
   37. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:33 AM (#3306251)
Seriously, take Wake out. He's off an injury.
   38. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:36 AM (#3306254)
Dunkin' Donuts-spending $50 thousand a year on the nosebleed seats for the poor kids, $3 million a year on the spots since 2003!
   39. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:36 AM (#3306255)
Whoa, my gameday must be broken, it says Gonzalez hit a homer...
   40. ekogan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:36 AM (#3306256)
Gonzalez must be on PEDs
   41. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:38 AM (#3306260)
Why does the trainer get a fist bump after the visit to the mound?
   42. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:38 AM (#3306261)
BTW, anybody who hasn't heard the audio of Lasorda in the '78 series out on the mound as he removes Doug Rau from the game
ought to listen--hilarious.
   43. ekogan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:38 AM (#3306262)
Ellsbury didn't try to run hard on a groundball.
He should - with his speed it will actualy result in more infield hits.
   44. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3306263)
He's part of the team, Biv.
   45. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3306264)
Yeah, I think Ellsbury's pouting or something. He's doggin' it tonight.
   46. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3306267)
Big spot for Papi.
   47. Marcel Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:47 AM (#3306274)
That slider has been absolutely nasty against lefties tonight. Pretty weird considering the typical platoon split on sliders.
   48. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:48 AM (#3306275)
The Count with a nasty, gutsy 3-2 slider. Damn.
   49. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:48 AM (#3306276)
Coke.
   50. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:49 AM (#3306278)
Sad Sack Wake with the 0-2 leadoff hit against.
   51. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3306282)
Another 0-2 hit. Love the knuckler.
   52. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3306283)
Here comes the killer hit
   53. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3306284)
This is gonna end poorly. I'm going to be right--Wake will cough up the lead in the pitcher's duel.
Damn it.
   54. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:55 AM (#3306288)
***whew***

TAKE HIM OUT! DON'T PUSH OUR LUCK!
   55. Joe Bivens, Idiot Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:56 AM (#3306289)
You're way under the Mendoza line with those predictions.
   56. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:56 AM (#3306290)
Take him out. Do it for km, Tito. The reliver might blow it, I can live with that I guess.
   57. The Ghost, elitist lollygagging neck-stabber Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:58 AM (#3306291)
Agreed take him out.

BTW, anybody who hasn't heard the audio of Lasorda in the '78 series out on the mound as he removes Doug Rau from the game
ought to listen--hilarious.

Is that the one where TL asks the ump what he thinks he should do?
   58. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:59 AM (#3306292)
Up on the bike for 20--BBL.
   59. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 12:59 AM (#3306293)
57-I don't think so--unless I missed the start or something. This one has F-bombs galore.
   60. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3306301)
####### Scott Podsednik? ####### seriously?
   61. Marcel Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3306302)
Seriously? Podsednik? ####
   62. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3306304)
Ramirez had allowed 5 HR all year and Podsednik had hit 5 HR all year. Un-#######-real.
   63. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3306305)
Nice work - get him out now - he will implode
   64. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:12 AM (#3306308)
Get him out now Tito - he wets the bed after he gives up dingers - get him out now
   65. karlmagnus Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:12 AM (#3306309)
We may well lose this, tfbg9, but you can't say Wake blew it. 7IP for 1ER is decent, particulalry with not much to work with.

Phil, my commiserations. You'll get us back next winter, you always do!
   66. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:13 AM (#3306310)
Well they brought in the reliever and he f*cked it so far. A homer and a BB, not looking good. Damn, I hate when that happens.
   67. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:20 AM (#3306317)
Phil, my commiserations. You'll get us back next winter, you always do!

Was a series that Australia deserved to lose and once again my heartiest congratulations.

That spell from Broad was awesome - glad to see we didn't lose to Flintoff but the new guard - cricket is in good hands!!!

See you next year!!!
   68. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3306318)
Blanking horrible appearance by Ramirez--lucky they just got the one. His breaking pitches were crap.
   69. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3306320)
Thankfully Bard came in and threw 3 pitches and got out of it...
   70. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:25 AM (#3306321)
Wake was real good tonight, km. Obviously.
   71. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:26 AM (#3306322)
2-0...take, OK?
   72. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:26 AM (#3306324)
Ells has the highest BA w/2 strikes in baseball, IIRC.
   73. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:27 AM (#3306325)
Oh come on, that's twice for that roidy stiff out there.
   74. Marcel Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:27 AM (#3306326)
Quentin's looked really good out there this series.
   75. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:29 AM (#3306327)
I am a V-Mart fan.
   76. Marcel Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:29 AM (#3306328)
And his UZR on the season is -6.1. Exactly why you shouldn't trust your eyes
   77. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:30 AM (#3306329)
Bard for the 9th it seems.
   78. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:31 AM (#3306330)
BTW, Posednick hit the crap out of that ball.
   79. Marcel Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:31 AM (#3306331)
Did Papelbon really work that hard last night? Not that I'm complaining about Bard getting to close it out, but it's not a good sign if Paps can't go two days in a row after having like 5 days off.
   80. Marcel Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3306333)
Oh, oops. Forgot they tied it up. I guess I was just trying to push that ######## homerun out of my mind.
   81. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3306335)
Nice play, Gonzo.
   82. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:35 AM (#3306336)
Just throw heat.
   83. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:37 AM (#3306337)
Come in on him.
   84. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:37 AM (#3306338)
That was semi-sick, that slider.
   85. karlmagnus Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:38 AM (#3306340)
Phil yes, that's the main thing. A wonderful series, with some gripping moments. I do worry however that we seem to have outsourced cricket administration to Dubai, and hear rumors that they are about to mess with Test matches making them four days instead of five. A huge mistake and destruction of the game if they did, as well as being financially suicidal -- in Britain and Australia they can charge more for Test cricket, so make lots of money out of it. Don't see why every country has to play the same pattern of matches, anyway. If India and Pakistan want to concentrate on 20/20, good luck to them, but we shouldn't be forced to (even if it makes the Wall Street Journal sneer at us, as in an article about a month ago.)
   86. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:42 AM (#3306342)
No chance at all. That walk-off stuff was the Old Papi.
   87. Marcel Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:42 AM (#3306343)
Ortiz!!!!
   88. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:42 AM (#3306344)
I really like Papi.
   89. Curse of the Graffanino (dfan) Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:43 AM (#3306345)
That's really nice to see.
   90. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:44 AM (#3306346)
Heh.
   91. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:45 AM (#3306349)
!!!
   92. The Ghost, elitist lollygagging neck-stabber Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:46 AM (#3306351)
Thanks, Papi.
   93. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:49 AM (#3306355)
Yep, that works.
   94. Hugh Jorgan Posted: August 27, 2009 at 01:51 AM (#3306356)
And it looks like we'll pick up a game on Texas, though Toronto has done us no favours....
   95. tfbg9 Posted: August 27, 2009 at 03:56 PM (#3306672)
Hugh spoke too soon.
