As good as Nieve has been, he should go back to the bullpen when Maine & Perez are ready, IMO.
How I picture our August/September staff:

Rotation- Johan, Pelfrey, Maine, Perez, Livan
Bullpen- K-Rod, Wagner, Green, Feliciano, Stokes, Nieve, Redding

Yes, I left Parnell out. Jerry, please don't use Parnell in a big spot this weekend. I beg you.
   2. Banta Posted: June 26, 2009 at 11:02 PM (#3234603)
Is this game gonna be played?
   3. Banta Posted: June 26, 2009 at 11:05 PM (#3234604)
Maine isn't gonna pick up a baseball for at least a week more. Still suffering from pain, they just said on SNY.

There's a good chance that one of Maine/Perez doesn't come back.
   4. AJM Posted: June 26, 2009 at 11:47 PM (#3234625)
Is it still raining? Any word on if or when they might start?
   5. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3234640)
And we're on.
   6. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:08 AM (#3234643)
Schneider does suck against lefties, but is Santos like the starter now?
   7. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:15 AM (#3234645)
Brilliant at bat, Crappy.
   8. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:18 AM (#3234647)
Screw you, Damon!
   9. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:18 AM (#3234648)
And that's as far as David can hit the ball this year.
   10. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:21 AM (#3234650)
So, Banta, what do you think about Mike Pelfrey so far?
   11. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:21 AM (#3234651)
He looks good. Throwing strikes, getting the ball down.

Oh, Donkeyface, you ####### suck.
   12. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:22 AM (#3234652)
You almost never see Dub #### that up.
   13. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:22 AM (#3234653)
Girardi is taking a page from the Jerry Manuel playbook and bunting.
   14. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:23 AM (#3234654)
HI OBV!
   15. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:24 AM (#3234655)
How's life treating you, Banta?
   16. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:25 AM (#3234659)
NOT GOOD NOW

Thanks, David.
   17. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:26 AM (#3234660)
And now Sabathia. this is ####### awesome.

How are you doing, OBV?
   18. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:26 AM (#3234662)
I wish it was still raining.
   19. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:27 AM (#3234663)
This is stupid.
   20. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:29 AM (#3234665)
I hate this ####### team.
   21. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:29 AM (#3234666)
This is the most annoying inning of all-time.
   22. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:30 AM (#3234667)
This team sucks.
   23. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:30 AM (#3234668)
Pelfrey deserves better than this. He's throwing well.
   24. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:31 AM (#3234669)
I'm just laughing right now.
   25. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:31 AM (#3234672)
Pelfrey, you can kill someone. You have my permission.
   26. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:34 AM (#3234674)
I love how all the good feelings I had going after the Cardinals series are already gone. You're a talented ballclub, Mets!
   27. Srul Itza Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:35 AM (#3234675)
So, can we blame this on a wet field?

Or has this team been permanently possessed by the spirit of the '62 Mets?
   28. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:36 AM (#3234676)
So, can we blame this on a wet field?

Nope. They're just all ####### brain dead.

David's error looks like a gold glove play after what followed.
   29. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:37 AM (#3234677)
STOP ####### NIBBLING
   30. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:37 AM (#3234678)
Yeah. Pelfrey's gonna spontaneously combust.
   31. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3234679)
With all the injuries and all the games lost on a failure to make routine plays, it's a joke that this team is a half game out of first. I mean, that really blows my mind when I think about it.
   32. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:40 AM (#3234681)
Wow, the sky looks like somebody ought to get me the Ghostbusters.
   33. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:45 AM (#3234686)
This is gonna be a long night.
   34. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:47 AM (#3234689)
Keith talking about "showcasing" Fernando again. I swear to god, if they trade Fernando to improve this ######## imitation of a team, I will become a Rockies fan. Or a cricket fan. Or just rip my eyes out.
   35. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:50 AM (#3234691)
He's hitting .167, Keith. Who do you propose we get for him? Albert ####### Pujols?
   36. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:54 AM (#3234697)
Alex Cora has adapted.
   37. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:56 AM (#3234698)
That was a better inning.
   38. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 12:58 AM (#3234700)
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
   39. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:02 AM (#3234704)
I think that 9.97 ERA is somewhat alarming too, Ron.
   40. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:03 AM (#3234706)
Redding sucks, Gary.
   41. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:04 AM (#3234707)
Please, Mets, do me a favor and get a hit so I can shut this off.
   42. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:04 AM (#3234708)
I think Sabathia is gonna throw a perfect game. I skipped starting him in fantasy this week because he was injured and I didn't want to root for him against the Mets.
   43. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:06 AM (#3234710)
Redding sucks, Gary.

This should be repeated as often as possible.

I've never seen so much acclaim for a guy with an ERA over 6. AND HE LOOKS LIKE #### WHEN HE DOES IT.
   44. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:07 AM (#3234711)
I can only take so much of Gary, Keith and Ron's banter in these kinds of games.
   45. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:07 AM (#3234712)
As a slight aside, is the Mets solution to every injury a ####### cortisone shot?
   46. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:08 AM (#3234713)
It's like the duct tape of the medical industry, I guess.
   47. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:08 AM (#3234714)
Yeah, it's like the ####### Civil War out there, Gary. Dogs and cats living together!
   48. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:09 AM (#3234715)
I'm gonna get another beer, AJM, OBV, you want anything?
   49. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3234716)
Yeah, a bullet and a gun.
   50. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3234717)
Wouldn't that be crazy if the Mets and the Phillies got no-hit on the same night? It would be fitting to this season, I think.
   51. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3234718)
I'm gonna get another beer, AJM, OBV, you want anything?

Arsenic.
   52. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3234719)
Yeah, a bullet and a gun.

I'm saving those. I could part with some rope though.
   53. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:12 AM (#3234721)
Arsenic.

How about some bleach? Mix it with some coke, it's not so bad.
   54. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:13 AM (#3234723)
I hope someone hits Sean Avery with a foul ball.
   55. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:14 AM (#3234724)
I'm about five minutes away from a bridge. I prefer that to the rope.

So many things can go wrong with ropes. Very inefficient.
   56. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:14 AM (#3234725)
I laughed out loud when Gary just said that Kurt Russell was the uncle of Matt Franco. Remember how much Howie and Fran used to bring that up? I swear, every ####### game.
   57. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:16 AM (#3234726)
Was his nickname 'The Thing'?
   58. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:16 AM (#3234727)
Wonderful, I hexed the Phillies game, but not this one.
   59. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:19 AM (#3234728)
This is stupid.
   60. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:19 AM (#3234729)
Sabathia ain't fooling Wright, that's for sure.
   61. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:19 AM (#3234730)
Well, he hit it hard.
   62. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:25 AM (#3234732)
M.C. Hammer wants his ####### pants back.
   63. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:27 AM (#3234735)
Sheff!
   64. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:27 AM (#3234736)
HUZZAH, SHEFFY!
   65. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:29 AM (#3234738)
STOP SLIDING HEAD FIRST INTO FIRST, YOU'RE AN IDIOT.
   66. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3234743)
And now the GIDP from Outmaker...
   67. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:36 AM (#3234744)
Only one out. A positive!
   68. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:37 AM (#3234745)
Well, that's bad luck.
   69. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:38 AM (#3234747)
Our Heinous? Really?
   70. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:39 AM (#3234749)
I'm pretty sure I have more faith in Pelfrey hitting Sabathia than I do our heinous.
   71. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:40 AM (#3234751)
Our Heinous, doesn't get much better than this.
   72. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:40 AM (#3234752)
I would have told Our Heinous not to swing. Because he sure as hell wasn't making contact there.
   73. twon8 Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:41 AM (#3234754)
Murphy would be better PH than reyes. now who is the backup MI?
   74. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:42 AM (#3234756)
I don't think Jerry thinks in those terms. He's worried more about not wasting a good PH in the fifth inning.

Because you just know the Mets are going to get loads more opportunities to score.
   75. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:43 AM (#3234758)
OH #### YEAH, TIM REDDING UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY ####, GUYS, THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
   76. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:44 AM (#3234759)
now who is the backup MI?

Tatis, of course!
   77. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:44 AM (#3234760)
CAN YOU UPLOAD THAT TO YOUTUBE?!
   78. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3234763)
OH PLEASE, SOMEONE MUST HAVE ALREADY!!!! TIM REDDING = MAD HITZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!

Actually, that last part is true!
   79. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:49 AM (#3234765)
Nice hitting, Runny McSlapsalot.
   80. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:51 AM (#3234766)
Keith's reactions are hilarious. Ronnie says he still has a scar on his thumb, Keith doesn't care at first, then he does and looks at Ronnie's thumb, but only for a second, quickly turning away.

Good inning, Misch.
   81. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:55 AM (#3234769)
Give me a break, Sabathia.
   82. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:56 AM (#3234770)
While you're waiting, would you like a burger? Shake Shack is awesome.
   83. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:56 AM (#3234771)
That fat bastard didn't even say thank you.
   84. Raskolnikov Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:57 AM (#3234772)
Hey guys, chatting from LA. Here for a friend's wedding. This looks pretty bad.
   85. Raskolnikov Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:58 AM (#3234773)
3 errors already?
   86. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:58 AM (#3234774)
It hasn't exactly been fun, Rask.
   87. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:59 AM (#3234775)
When I was twelve, I had six teeth extracted in one day.

That would approximate the pain I feel watching this rubbish.
   88. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 01:59 AM (#3234776)
Hey guys, chatting from LA. Here for a friend's wedding. This looks pretty bad.

I'll bet, weddings are never good.
   89. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3234778)
3 errors already?

All in the same inning. Wright, with a tough play, throwing it away. Cora, throwing away a double play ball, and then Evans, bobbling a ball on his way to take it to first because he was looking to throw home afterwards to get the runner. The errors led to all four runs. Pelfrey pitched fine.
   90. Raskolnikov Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3234779)
We needed Pelfrey to come up bigger than he did.
   91. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:02 AM (#3234782)
We needed Pelfrey to come up bigger than he did.

We need the rest of the team to not turn into Little Leaguers from time to time.

Seriously, Pelfrey looked GOOD. If not for the defensive collapse, this game is probably tied and he's still in it.
   92. Raskolnikov Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:03 AM (#3234785)
Nice work guys. The fat guy really had to work hard that inning.
   93. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:04 AM (#3234786)
I don't think making him work is priority one on this night.

Getting to Scores in time to see Candi, on the other hand...
   94. Raskolnikov Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:04 AM (#3234787)
All they have on this coast is Angels and Dodgers baseball. I want to vomit.
   95. Raskolnikov Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:05 AM (#3234788)
The Dbacks are pretty pathetic.
   96. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:06 AM (#3234789)
I think Wright was due to attend GT as well.
   97. Banta Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:07 AM (#3234791)
The Dbacks are pretty pathetic.

Drinking levski's tears is all that keeps me going at this point!
   98. Raskolnikov Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:07 AM (#3234792)
This guy Misch looks like a keeper. I like him better than Takahashi already.
   99. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:07 AM (#3234793)
Misch has a nice curveball. That's all I can say about him.
   100. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 02:08 AM (#3234796)
CAN WE STOP WALKING #######, PLEASE?
