I fear that this series is shaping up as one of the ugly ones in which the Yankees run all over us, and no game is all that close. I hope I'm wrong.
   2. Bob Koo Posted: June 27, 2009 at 07:55 PM (#3235270)
Tonight's lineup:

Cora, ss
Reyes, 2b
Wright, 3b
Church, rf
Sheffield, lf
Murphy, 1b
Reed, cf
Schneider, c
Redding, rhp

Argenis hitting 2nd? Jerry does it again.

More Our Heinous=More bunting.
   4. twon8 Posted: June 27, 2009 at 10:36 PM (#3235406)
Let's put our worst hitter in front of our best, give him some "protection."

I heard he did get hit in AAA, could of used some protection at the time.
   5. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:02 PM (#3235438)
Oh great, YES network.
   6. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:02 PM (#3235440)
I get WPIX, thank goodness.
   7. twon8 Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:02 PM (#3235441)
MLB network has the game
   8. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:03 PM (#3235442)
I'm getting Marlins-Rays on MLBN.
   9. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:05 PM (#3235445)
MLB network has the game

Cool, thanks.
   10. twon8 Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:07 PM (#3235447)
The Marlins/Rays is the alternate, Im in VA so out of market.
   11. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:07 PM (#3235448)
I'm getting Marlins-Rays on MLBN.

I think if you are in the local area you get a different game. If this were FOX I'd get the Marlins, but I got the Mets on.
   12. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:17 PM (#3235457)
This is a great start. I'm expecting an ARod homer.
   13. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:18 PM (#3235458)
Just walk him, Redding. Eventually, you'll get to somebody who you can get out.
   14. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:19 PM (#3235459)
Just got under that.
   15. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:21 PM (#3235463)
####### fans.
   16. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:26 PM (#3235470)
Wow. A .500 OBP!
   17. Obama Bomaye Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:27 PM (#3235473)
A-Rod in the ###### zone.
   18. Mark S. Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:53 PM (#3235490)
Brad Holt came back from his ankle injury in AA tonight and it didn't go well. 1/3 of an inning 2 BB, 3 hits (1 HR), 5 runs. I'm guessing he's not completely healed.
   19. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:53 PM (#3235491)
Man, this is a sad lineup for the Mets.
   20. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3235495)
Come Out To Citifield and Taste The Sadness!
   21. AJM Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3235496)
Redding sucks.
   22. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 27, 2009 at 11:58 PM (#3235497)
Swisher crushed that.
   23. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:00 AM (#3235499)
In the last three games against the Yanks, the Mets have been outscored 25-1.
   24. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3235502)
Turned it on just in time to see Swisher's homerun!
   25. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:12 AM (#3235504)
Michael Kay VS Al Leiter on the subject of steroids. Awesome.

I think Leiter is probably gonna kill Kay someday.
   26. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:13 AM (#3235505)
I think Leiter is probably gonna kill Kay someday.

*fingers crossed*
   27. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:14 AM (#3235506)
Redding pitching pretty well overall.
   28. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:15 AM (#3235507)
Redding pitching pretty well overall.

Screw that noise! He's Tim Redding. It's just a matter of time.
   29. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:17 AM (#3235508)
I think this inning might be the best chance for the Mets to score a run today.
   30. Swoboda is freedom Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:18 AM (#3235510)
I think Leiter is probably gonna kill Kay someday.

Just planting some seeds, see what grows.
   31. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:23 AM (#3235514)
The Mets have been retired in order in 14 of the last 17 innings. That's not good.
   32. nick swisher hygiene Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:31 AM (#3235518)
Yanks v. Tim Redding: RHP? check. sucks? check. unfamiliar? check...
   33. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:35 AM (#3235521)
Damn, Cabrera almost played that into a hit.
   34. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3235526)
Didn't Burnett throw a n0-hitter with like 7 walks or something like that?
   35. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3235529)
9 walks.
   36. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3235530)
I think it was against the Padres.
   37. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:43 AM (#3235532)
Burnett actually walked 9 in his no hitter.
   38. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:48 AM (#3235533)
So this is one of those series, eh?
   39. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:49 AM (#3235534)
Teixeira is so strong. Redding hit his spot and Teixeira still pulled it for a double despite the fact it was on the outside corner.
   40. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:50 AM (#3235535)
I'm glad they are going to break it open here so I'm not tortured the next 4 innings.
   41. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:51 AM (#3235536)
Yeah, this Redding guy, not good.
   42. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:51 AM (#3235537)
That's okay. Wang's going tomorrow.
   43. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:51 AM (#3235538)
Refer to my post 28.
   44. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:52 AM (#3235539)
That's okay. Wang's going tomorrow.

Great, we'll get shutout by a guy with a zip code for an ERA.
   45. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3235540)
And now STOKES is coming in! Stokes has not advanced on Jerry's pecking order at all.
   46. nick swisher hygiene Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3235541)
so Redding hit with the tying run on in the 5th after having already thrown 92 pitches...good thing mlg isn't watching.
   47. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3235542)
Redding was just such an uninspired signing. Very little upside to the move even if he pitches "well".

Hopefully the Mets can salveage a game in this series tomorrow.
   48. How to lose a guy in jemile weeks Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3235543)
Mets message to fans: don't get excited about the Cards series, we'll be sucking again in no time!

They've got to learn we've stopped buying.
   49. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:54 AM (#3235544)
And now STOKES is coming in! Stokes has not advanced on Jerry's pecking order at all.

(Forget) Jerry.
   50. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 12:57 AM (#3235546)
Redding's still gonna have an ERA well above six after this game. He's GOT to be the one to go when Perez comes back. Nieve has the results AND looks convincing. The Mets would be stupid to do anything else.

Which wouldn't be new.
   51. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:14 AM (#3235551)
I'd love to know WHY JERRY THINKS THAT STOKES IS A LONG RELIEVER. It REALLY MAKES ME ANGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY.

And it'll make me more angry in a couple days when Parnell is back in a high leverage situation.
   52. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:16 AM (#3235553)
Al, Miami isn't a big league city. It's solely designed for the import and export of cocaine.
   53. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3235565)
The Yankees broadcast really is funny. Michael Kay spews his crap all over the place, Al Leiter tries to ignore it and analyze the game, and David Cone is basically just watching the game and decides to interject occasionally.
   54. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:54 AM (#3235566)
The Yankees broadcast really is funny.

If I want funny, i'll watch a Todd Solondz film, thank you very much. [/snob]
   55. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:54 AM (#3235567)
Why is it so surprising that Jeter has more hits than Rose at the same age? Pete doesn't have the most hits for what he did when he was young, he has them because of what he did when he was old.

I'd be surprised if either of them were top 10 through age 35.
   56. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:54 AM (#3235568)
Actually, Michael, that's Jerry Manuel's motto. "Take one game off the schedule" until they get healthy.
   57. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:57 AM (#3235572)
Kay feels it necessary to keep on pointing out that the Mets suck. WE KNOW, WE KNOW.
   58. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:58 AM (#3235573)
So Rose is #8 though 35, I guess I should use 34 since Jeter just turned 35. Jeter would be #7 for that list.
   59. How to lose a guy in jemile weeks Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:59 AM (#3235575)
Any reason everyone's watching the Yankees broadcast?

More YES coverage?
   60. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 01:59 AM (#3235576)
HOW MANY HITS DID THE METS GET, MICHAEL?
   61. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: June 28, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3235577)
Sadomasochism.
   62. AJM Posted: June 28, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3235579)
Any reason everyone's watching the Yankees broadcast?

I was watching MLBN. EI had the YES broadcast.
   63. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 02:02 AM (#3235580)
I can't get PIX. And the MLB network isn't showing it for me. And plus, I figured it'd be fun to abuse myself.
   64. Banta Posted: June 28, 2009 at 02:03 AM (#3235581)
Wasn't Ollie pitching tonight? Anybody know what he did? I'm anxious to punt Redding.
   65. How to lose a guy in jemile weeks Posted: June 28, 2009 at 02:13 AM (#3235584)
