Miller - Morgan - Phillips

An amazing threesome and as important to baseball as Player, Nicklaus and Palmer were to golf - we can't live without them - the three crumbs.
   2. JJ1986 Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:00 AM (#3236018)
I cant wait until Joe Morgan just snaps and kills Phillips in the booth. He obviously hates him.
   3. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:04 AM (#3236020)
I hate Phillips the most as well - easily - he is a flea.
   4. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3236021)
This team stinks.
   5. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:09 AM (#3236022)
HELLO! Everything is safe, I'm here, so we can win.
   6. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:12 AM (#3236024)
That's a home run in NYS
   7. JJ1986 Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:13 AM (#3236025)

   8. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:13 AM (#3236026)
What in the living crap? Murphy sucks.
   9. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:14 AM (#3236028)
Dammit, Murph, you make that decision, get it done!
   10. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:14 AM (#3236029)
He's actually been good at 1B, MCoA, that was a risk. I personally UNLIKE STEVE MORON PHILLIPS, like that play. Sadly, he failed.
   11. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:15 AM (#3236030)
Wow, I didn't realize quite how much Murphy sucks. 315/365! That's even worse than I thought he'd do, and I did not think he'd be any good. Whatever the terms were, MHS has it in the bag.
   12. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:16 AM (#3236032)
He's actually been good at 1B, MCoA, that was a risk. I personally UNLIKE STEVE MORON PHILLIPS, like that play. Sadly, he failed.
No way. Livan Hernandez on the mound, and you go for a play that only works to try to prevent one run from scoring? It's an absolutely terrible decision, simply never a good idea unless it's very late in the game and you've got great pitching.
   13. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:17 AM (#3236033)
Oh for crap's sake.
   14. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:17 AM (#3236034)
...and that's why you take the sure out. #### me sideways
   15. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:18 AM (#3236035)
This team stinks.
   16. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:19 AM (#3236037)
Matrix:

1--, 1 out: .573
--1, 1 out: .983
1-1, 0 out: 1.904

Murphy needs to be about 80% to make the play for the risk to be worth it, in a normal situation. And Livan Hernandez on the mound with Teixeira and ARod up is not normal - it's a situation where everyone knows you take the out.
   17. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:19 AM (#3236038)
I'm sorry, I'm just annoyed because I wanted to watch this game, but it looks like the Mets are going to crap it away in the 1st freakin' inning.
   18. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:20 AM (#3236039)
MCoA - I know it's not a great play, I guess I mean, I like the risk.

Anything that makes Philips act right makes me want to punch everyone on the TV, though.
   19. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:21 AM (#3236041)
Alright Murphy!
   20. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:21 AM (#3236043)
Oh for ##### sake Murphy - you ####### suck
   21. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:21 AM (#3236044)
Thank you, Murphy, for making me looks ####### stupid for defending you.
   22. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:22 AM (#3236047)
I just don't understand how you can like the risk. Livan Hernandez is pitching! It's the 1st inning! Outs are the currency of baseball.

Jesus Christballs. I'm gonna see what's on the tivo.
   23. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:23 AM (#3236048)
It would have been close, though.
   24. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:24 AM (#3236050)
Looked out.

Oh jeez, MCoA, come on, 2 damn runs? Boooo!
   25. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:25 AM (#3236052)
Looked out.

Oh jeez, MCoA, come on, 2 damn runs? Boooo!

OK, three runs.
   26. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:26 AM (#3236053)
Three.

And this Mets team is absolutely no fun to watch. I'll give 'em a couple innings, if they stop shitting the game away.

ok, that's better.
   27. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:27 AM (#3236054)
Also my ear hurts. And I'm tired. My point is, I'm irritable.
   28. JJ1986 Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:29 AM (#3236056)
Even Wang might have a chance against this lineup.
   29. Srul Itza At Home Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:29 AM (#3236057)
Hey, Wang is on the mound. 3 runs is nothing.
   30. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:30 AM (#3236059)
Screw team spirit if you can't make simple plays
   31. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:31 AM (#3236061)
Maybe our MASH unit can get something done early.

Steve Philips needs to be punched.
   32. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:31 AM (#3236062)
I like Alex Cora though.
   33. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:33 AM (#3236064)
I like Alex Cora though.

Good little ballplayer!
   34. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:34 AM (#3236065)
I'm also mad at the US team for their performance in the 2nd half today - they looked like a high school team out there with the possession skills.

This is not helping.
   35. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:35 AM (#3236067)
Yeah, but, Brazil was just better. It was less possession than defense, I think. It was a better game than it could have been, even discounting moral victories.
   36. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:36 AM (#3236068)
Smart little base runner
   37. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:37 AM (#3236069)
Brazil #### me - USA could have won - FMS
   38. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:38 AM (#3236070)
Oh, sure, I woulda taken 2-3 beforehand pretty happily. but their play in the 2nd half was a crime against nature. Brasil's better than we are, but the midfielders just could not give the ball away quickly enough in the second half. It's hard for me to blame the defense too much when they were forced to play every second of the half running backwards.

Though I agree they didn't do too good neither, and Brasil played an amazing half of football. Kaka is crazy good.
   39. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:45 AM (#3236075)
Nice catch
   40. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:45 AM (#3236076)
nice catch, fernando. is there something in the air this night?

the stars are bright.
   41. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:45 AM (#3236077)
Woohoo Fernando!
   42. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:50 AM (#3236078)
Fernando actually looks like he can play CF. Which is contrary to what most of the scouts have said of his minor league work. I'm suspicious that they just conclude that because he's not a base-stealer.
   43. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:51 AM (#3236080)
A Rod carries on like a tool more often than not these days
   44. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:51 AM (#3236081)
Do Mets fans think calling up Fernando was a good idea? If you to do it all again, would you, my friend?
   45. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:54 AM (#3236082)
Yes, Phillips, we want Fernando to TAKE OVER FOR THE WORTHLESS BELTRAN THIS YEAR.
   46. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:55 AM (#3236083)
Well, this game sucks, but now I've got ABBA playing, and I'm feeling better.
   47. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:56 AM (#3236084)
Why does dickwit Phillips hate Beltran so much?
   48. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:56 AM (#3236085)
This team sure makers CMW look like a world beater.
   49. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 12:57 AM (#3236087)
Fernando was hitting great in the minors, and is not adjusting that well. But really, we had to call him up. What the hell else can we do at this point?
   50. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:00 AM (#3236088)
4000 hits? Jesus Phillips
   51. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:00 AM (#3236090)
Oh, I was just quoting ABBA. I think it was a perfectly fine choice.

I do think that ABBA theme jokes are lacking among Mets fans. If I had a prospect named Fernando, I wouldn't stop with em.
   52. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:06 AM (#3236095)
They get a little confusing since there are 3 Fernando's on the team.
   53. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:06 AM (#3236097)
Suck less, murph.
   54. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:07 AM (#3236098)
They get a little confusing since there are 3 Fernando's on the team.
How freakin' great is that. Best thing about this Mets team, by a lot.
   55. JJ1986 Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3236103)
Please stop sucking, Mets.
   56. nick swisher hygiene Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3236104)
Jeter really does look quicker out there this year....
   57. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3236105)
When Wright is sucking, this lineup has little chance, even against Wang.
   58. ECAMike Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3236106)
Wow, what a terrible team.
   59. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:13 AM (#3236108)
You must have missed our three-Fernando game last week.
   60. JJ1986 Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:14 AM (#3236109)
Jon Miller's lost it.
   61. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:16 AM (#3236110)
Wow, what a terrible team.

Yes, no one but loser teams GIDP.

The Yankees apparently also suck.
   62. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3236114)
Come on, Fernandooooooooooooooo......
   63. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:26 AM (#3236115)
I'm hoping this is the Wang Explosion inning.

Yes, I went there.
   64. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:28 AM (#3236118)
They live!
   65. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:28 AM (#3236119)
YAY ROOKIE!
   66. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:31 AM (#3236120)
Get a hit, slappy, please please please.
   67. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:31 AM (#3236121)
Slapped!
   68. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:32 AM (#3236123)
What the hell was that?
   69. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:32 AM (#3236124)
God, that was ugly, Castillo.
   70. The Ghost, elitist lollygagging neck-stabber Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:33 AM (#3236127)
Why steal with the pitcher up and 2 out? You want to clear him so your leadoff hitter can start the next inning, don't you?
   71. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3236129)
Livan has been known to hit, that's actually probably a decent steal.
   72. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:35 AM (#3236131)
And Murphy is hardly a better hitter.
   73. Raskolnikov Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:36 AM (#3236132)
That last AB showed why you wait for Fernando to develop. Awesome opposite field power.

The Mets should be sending everyone, even Schneider, against Wang and Posada.
   74. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:37 AM (#3236133)
Yay Citi Field.
   75. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:37 AM (#3236134)
Yeah, I didn't think that Sheff was going to get that one.
   76. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:39 AM (#3236135)
Those guys in the bullpen sure look into this game.
   77. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:40 AM (#3236138)
Nice inning, guys.....
   78. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:44 AM (#3236144)
Of course, running into Livan isn't necessarily the best idea.
   79. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:45 AM (#3236145)
BAD call on that inside pitch, blue.
   80. Freeballin' (Tales of Met Power) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:45 AM (#3236146)
Bad strike call.
   81. Raskolnikov Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:50 AM (#3236148)
Livan's done a solid job again tonight.
   82. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:50 AM (#3236149)
Lame inning, guys.
   83. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 01:56 AM (#3236153)
Arrrrrgh Livan.

Swisher doesn't chase balls out of the zone? Really?
   84. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3236155)
Cano has been very helpful today.
   85. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3236156)
NICE JOB LIVAN!
   86. Raskolnikov Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:03 AM (#3236157)
Huge DP. I think we can get to Wang.
   87. Melo's Love Handles (NJ) Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:05 AM (#3236159)
Huge DP. I think we can get to Wang.

This made me laugh...as I toil away in the office on a Sunday night.
   88. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:05 AM (#3236160)
Wang figuring he wasn't screwing things up badly enough pitching, so let's screw up fielding.
   89. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:07 AM (#3236162)
That was a double-dose of staying out of the double play tactics... I guess with Tatis you have to do whatever you can.
   90. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:08 AM (#3236163)
OK Fernando, hero time.
   91. Raskolnikov Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:10 AM (#3236164)
That was so stupid. Wouldn't you at least make Wang throw a strike. Otherwise, hit and run?
   92. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:11 AM (#3236166)
Fernando, come on, swing at a good pitch here.
   93. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:12 AM (#3236168)
I felt that coming after taking a pitch he should have swung at.
   94. RollingWave Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:14 AM (#3236169)
Santos pinch hit here? really?
   95. Lassus Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:16 AM (#3236170)
That was very annoying.
   96. twon8 Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:16 AM (#3236171)
The outmaker cometh
   97. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:17 AM (#3236172)
Santos vs Hughes was probably a little more likely than Schneider vs Coke, but they were pretty screwed either way - as results indicate.
   98. RollingWave Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:18 AM (#3236173)
way to work the count Santo
   99. RollingWave Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:23 AM (#3236174)
I'm baffled by why Livan isnt getting creamed here.
   100. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: June 29, 2009 at 02:25 AM (#3236175)
Way to go, Livan. Great job.
