Lee seems like a perfect fit for the 2 spot, moving everybody up one spot and burying Fukudome in the back. I would make Soto the #5 guy and go for a more true murders row type lineup. Whereas Lou as a more banger then chipper then banger style back of the lineup.

And he seems to be in love with the L/R thing damn the consequences.

Agreed, McCoy. But Lou also does mix things up, based on results. So like I said, I don't think he's married to that order. But I would like to see Soriano/Lee/Bradley/Ramirez/Soto/Fontenot/Theriot/Fukudome at some point.

Lou has no problem sitting youth and the old timers but he has been rather consistent with his main players. He hasn't moved Lee or Alfonso in two years. I think the only way he isn't married to the lineup is if the lower tiered players flop. meaning he will have no problem moving Fukudome out of the 2 spot but he is less likely to move Soriano or Lee out of their spot.

If Soriano is hitting leadoff now, he's going to hit leadoff all season. He sounds like he's already moved Ramirez out of clean-up, and everyone else has been up and down the lineup before. He'll have to be flexible for the games Bradley will miss. If Lee is as bad as he was in the 2nd half last season, Lou will move him. Having options like Soto, Ramirez and Bradley to replace him will make it easier. Had the Cubs gotten Roberts last offseason, I'm sure Lou would have moved Soriano out of the 1 hole. But with a typical leadoff hitter, he seems comfortable with Soriano there.

Sorry, *without* a typical leadoff hitter. Damn no edit button.

Given Soriano's lower than average OBP/higher than average SLG out of the leadoff spot, hitting 2nd might be the best place for DPLee.

General Francisco Franco still dead news... Sean Marshall has officially won the 5th starter derby.

He's earned it, and I suspect that he'll end up being one of the best 5th starters in baseball this year, but I'd still rather have him in the pen.

Isn't one of the best 5th starters in baseball (say 180 innings of ERA+ 115) inherently more valuable than 50 innings out of the pen?

I still expect Miles to start against lefties, but it’ll be interesting to see what Mike can do this season.
