1999 Results: First-Time Candidates Brett, Yount and Fisk Are Now All-Time Hall of Merit Inductees!
In his first year of eligibility, Kansas City Royal great George Brett picked up an outstanding 99% of all possible points. Every voter placed him an elect-me spot.
Shortstop/center field MVP Robin Yount captured a terrific 91% of all possible points as a newbie this election.
Legendary backstop Carlton Fisk, another new candidate, also scored a more than impressive 91% of all possible points.

1998 Results: Carter, Blyleven and (finally) Beckley Are the Hall of Merit’s Centennial Choices!
In the Hall of Merit’s 100th “year” of existence, star Expo and Met backstop Gary Carter sailed into our institution with a robust 97% of all possible points in his first year of eligibility.
Curveball master Bert Blyleven also commanded an impressive newbie tally with his 93% of all possible points.

Relocation of the Hall of Merit - Champaign or bust!
No, the Hall of Merit is not leaving BTF. Unless Jim kicks us out or something.
I’m moving. I’ve decided to accept a new job in Champaign, IL. I’ll be out there by May 14. This whole process has been the main cause of my AWOLness of late. A lot has been happening the last few weeks.

1997 Results: Evans, Fox and Roush Are the Big Hall of Merit Winners in Our 100th Election!
In his first year of eligibility, star Red Sox right fielder Dwight Evans was the top point-getter with his 43% of all possible points.
Fielding great Nellie Fox earned 30% of all possible points in his 27th year of eligibility.
Last but not least, standout Cincinnati center fielder Edd Roush finally made it with his 61st try. His 29% of all possible points is the lowest ever, breaking Dobie Moore’s record of 30% set in 1991.
