Congratulations to Sandy Koufax, 1963’s Most Meritorious Player, and let’s extend a little sympathy to Hank Aaron, who came within a whisker of winning.

It shouldn't be too hard to come up with a Koufax plaque

The evidence is scant but it looks like we'd call Gary Peters the AL MMP.

The MVP results from that year:

AL:
1. E. Howard
2. Kaline
3. Ford
4. Killebrew
5. Radatz
...
8. Peters
11. Tresh
12. Pascual
15. Allison

NL:
1. Koufax
2. Groat
3. Aaron
4. Perranoski
5. Mays
...
19. Ellsworth
NV: Mathews

Versus our vote:

AL:
1. Peters
2. Allison
3. E. Howard
4. Pascual
5. Tresh
NV: Kaline, Ford, Killebrew, Radatz

NL:
1. Koufax
2. Aaron
3. Mays
4. Ellsworth
5. Mathews
6. Groat
NV: Perranoski

Our AL results shouldn't be seen as particularly reliable.

Unless I am looking at the table wrong, it looks like the tallies are off for 7th-10th places.

Rob Wood — I double-checked Callison's total, which is correct. It could be a browser issue regarding the alignment of the columns, although they look good to me in IE9, Chrome and Opera.

Well, it could be my browser (I am using Firefox). By eyeball, it looks like there are 19 7th place votes, 18 8th place votes, 15 9th place votes, and 16 10th place votes.

Ah, I didn't look at it like that. You're right. I'll try to fix that.

I am also using Firefox, and while the grid below the top three is shifted it still lines up OK.

Groat's line was all kind of groated up. It should be OK now. I had to hurry off to take mrs fra paolo to work when I posted the thread, and clearly wasn't thorough enough. Apologies.

No worries, as the kids say. Thanks to you and everyone else who take on the administrative duties on this site.

Alex, I really like the cumulative MMP shares you're keeping track of. Thanks!
And that was a pretty awesome election, right down to the wire.

I'll repeat that. This site is a bear.

"Alex, I really like the cumulative MMP shares you're keeping track of. Thanks!"

Yeah, that's fun.

And I found the top 3 remarkably close - and was one of only 2 to vote for Mays. I can't really see Hank being more meritorious at this pt in their careers when Willie still had something left in CF.

I do think there is no question who the four most meritorious players were in 1963 - and the voting reflects that really well...
