Most Meritorious Player: 1972 Results

Congratulations to Steve Carlton, 1972’s Most Meritorious Player! Carlton fell one vote short of being a unanimous selection, with Dick Allen‘s tremendous season drawing one vote. Johnny Bench was the best NL non-pitcher.

The Most Meritorious Player in the American League was Dick Allen, the AL’s Most Meritorious pitcher was another newcomer from the NL, Gaylord Perry.

I finally figured out that the submission form from the entry wanted me to 'primary tag' the entry with an already-existing tag, as opposed to inserting 'hall of merit'. (You can't see them here, and they are essential in the site redesign.) The primary tag for this is 'history'. At the moment only Newsblog entries are showing up in the Beta under the 'history' micro. Eventually this should all make sense, if you haven't heard about the site redesign.
