He'd have a case if he had played SS/2B for his entire career, but too many games at first spoil it for me.

I remember Pete playing 1B for the Red Sox when I started watching baseball. I think he was the first guy that I thought BA alone overrated, but looking at the stats, he actually hit for more power than I remember. I didn't realize that he'd played so much middle infield.

John's right; he's a little short of making it.

WE NEED MORE RED SOX HOMers. Regrettably, I can't get the figures to tell me this guy should be one of them. Closer than his modest retrospective reputation suggests, though.

I agree, karlmagnus. As the Ghost stated above, his career as an infielder is rarely highlighted.
