Takeover Ad

Someone complained about an expanding ad on the site. I’d like to verify whether his report is accurate.

If you have noticed any ads expanding into a large part of the screen, please let me know. I have those types of ads turned off in all the site’s ad networks. If you find such an ad, please do me a favor and post a comment in this thread with as much info about the ad as you can. With the right info, I’ll be able to figure out which ad network is the culprit and resubmit my preferences.

Thanks in advance.

I just had one float across my screen from "Opinion Central."

One from what looked like "Hugo Fragrances" on the main baseballthinkfactory.org page. (I instinctively closed it out before I could get a good look at it.)

I got the same thing just now in a newsblog thread, Guapo.

I just saw one as well, although I don't remember the brand.

I've gotten a few this week, though I can't remember the specifics.

I just saw the same Circuit City ad as RB in NYC, in the "Best Red Sox Trade Ever" thread.

I just saw the CC in a HOM thread too.

But at least the buzzing mosquito ad hasn't appeared in like two years....

American Express, just now in the Sox Therapy trade deadline thread.

I also got the Circuit City expanding ad last week, FWIW.

Much worse than the occasional expanding ads are the talking ones, especially when you're trying to listen to a game or some music on another window. The noise only lasts a second or two, but it's annoying as hell.

Yeah, could we get rid of the Ad offering "Free IM smilies" or something. It was on top of the SNY: Salfino: Players due for Corrections thread and said "HELLO!" "HELLO!" over and over in the most annoying voice I've ever heard
