CHECKLIST. As always, the list will be open to suggestions until the start of the All-Star Festivities (I'll know it when I see it- probably the introductions of the rosters), and once the game starts the checklist will only be posted once per page unless there is a massive storm of checklist items happening or the game ends.

There was a short, poorly written piece in the Washington Post about when D.C. will ever host the All-Star Game again. We were discussing this a few years ago and came to the conclusion that the Lerners must first seek an audience with HizzonerForLife Selig, then woo him with promises of treasures and pleasures to be even considered, let alone win the game.
I still wonder what they're waiting for. Seems to me that MLB would want to tout its new ballparks, its "new" team, especially now that they're playing so well. They'll probably wait until they've sunk back to the basement before they pull the trigger, though. I can't help being pessimistic, I'm a Nats fan. :-(

The Nats have spent a lot of money on draft picks recently and are being punished for that. Maybe they'll get an All Star Game if Giolito goes to college.
Next year is Citifield in NY. Bud says the 2014 and 2015 sites have been picked already, they'll announce them soon. I'm guessing Minnesota gets '14. Wrigley wants it for the 100th anniversary, but since they didn't give it to Fenway this year, I'm guessing they don't care about Wrigley for their 100 year (although Wrigley hasn't hosted in awhile, while Fenway had it just over a decade ago.)
Other new parks that haven't hosted: Cincinnati, San Diego, NY Yankees, Miami, Philly, and Washington. And the Cubs haven't hosted since '90, the Dodgers since '80. That's a large glut of NL parks, so I wonder if they'll continue with the alternating leagues rule. It would be hard to let all the NL parks host if it gives the NL a competitive advantage and "this time it counts."
Tampa has never hosted and Oakland hasn't hosted since '87, but I imagine neither will host til they get new stadiums. AL clubs with the longest drought since hosting: Minnesota (1985), Toronto (1991), Baltimore (1993).
I know that Philadelphia is on record as basically demanding the 2026 ASG (as it'll be the 250th anniversary of AMERICA). Have to think they'd get it, so MLB is going to have to stop the AL-in-Even and NL-in-Odd before then.
Also doubt that New Yankee Stadium will host anytime soon, given the fact 2013 will be in Flushing and Old Yankee hosted only a few years ago.
Toronto and Baltimore haven't hosted in a while.... although Baltimore may have the same problem that New Yankee will have....
I agree that 2014 is almost certainly going to Minnesota. Maybe the Cubs can get it 2016, for the 100th anniversary of the Cubs moving there....

Haven't seen anyone list them, so here are the official lineups (both were announced last night):
AL: Justin Verlander, P
Derek Jeter, SS
Robinson Cano, 2B
Josh Hamilton, LF
Jose Bautista, RF
Prince Fielder, 1B
Adrian Beltre, 3B
David Ortiz, DH
Mike Napoli, C
Curtis Granderson, CF
NL: Matt Cain (P)
Carlos Gonzalez (DH)
Melky Cabrera (CF)
Ryan Braun (LF)
Joey Votto (1B)
Carlos Beltran (RF)
Buster Posey (C)
Pablo Sandoval (3B)
Dan Uggla (2B)
Rafael Furcal (SS)
I hope Wrigley gets it for the 100th anniversary in 2014. I really thought Fenway should have gotten it this year for the same reason but given how recently it was here I understand it not coming back. It would be good for the game to honor the history of the ballparks. Of course I imagine the last thing MLB wants to do is say "see, it's great when you have really really old ballparks!"
I wouldn't be shocked to see Dodgers Stadium get one soon as a "thank you" for getting Selig out of the McCourt mess relatively unscathed.

They already went back-to-back NL parks in 06-07, so that's not a dealbreaker.

I went to the Futures Game/Celeb Game and had a few drinks and my buddy and I were kinda jokingly talking about running on the field since we were so close. Then he pointed out the SWAT team guys standing on the Royals Hall of Fame in left.
“I had a lot of animosity toward DJ early on in my career,” Chipper Jones said. “He beat me in two World Series and I didn’t know him. I sat across the field from him so many times, saw all the accolades he was getting and was a little green with envy. Then I got a chance to play with him (at the 2006 World Baseball Classic), in the clubhouse, in the dugout, off the field at dinner. This is the best dude I have ever met. This guy deserves everything.”
Jeter and Darvish, respectively, for those who are wondering. There probably aren't more than a handful who would blank on 'DJ' the way I did, but I'll spare those few of you the embarrassment.
Uh oh, George Brett apparently did the speech to the AL before the Yankee Stadium ASG. I guess that means we're going to be in for another epically long ASG.
I also admit having no idea who "DJ" was. In the 15 years that he's been one of the biggest celebrities in the USA this is the first time I've ever seen him called that.

I had no idea Erin Andrews jumped to FOX until right now.
Also, she is taller than Mike Trout. Hopefully those are some killer heels.
I can't name any of the last handful of American Idol winners, but I do remember Taylor Hicks winning as a poor man's Michael McDonald. So my belief is that anything is possible. There may well be an AI bluesman.
I might be able to warm to this idea whenever they stop marketing this aspect of it so heavily. I mean, Harold Reynolds just "Don't forget guys, it counts now!" But it's been almost 10 years, right?
