It's a shame, just because Smith was doing really well & is on gef's fantasy team.
A 148 career ERA+ is average? He's a notch below the truly elite Kimbrel/Uehara closers, but Street is solidly in the next group, with Sergio Romo and Joe Nathan and K-Rod and Rafael Soriano.
Does this tell us much about the market for a reliable closer? He has a $7m team option for 2015, which makes him more attractive.
It seems like a pretty good haul for a closer. If the Red Sox were to deal Uehara (who is a FA after 2014), how would the return compare?
Speaking of fantasy baseball, do people thing it is 100% that Benoit inherits the chair in San Diego?
