No Frownland here…
Read More...The Angels broke out the disco ball in the clubhouse, and why not? That was quite a party.
Mike Trout, the guest of honor, became the youngest player in American League history to hit for the cycle. Josh Hamilton, the birthday boy, enjoyed two rounds of serenades from the crowd. The Angels posted their most lopsided victory of the season, a 12-0 rout of the Seattle Mariners.
The fans even went home with party favors — Mike Trout pint glasses, in honor of a player of ...

1. Best Regards, L.M. posted on September 20, 2012 at 04:35 PM # hit 0 | hit 0That would be an awesome name. Right up there with Nippon Ham Fighters, for the same reason.
(It would still make more sense to have the NFL in Industry and the Angels downtown, next to Staples.)

IOW, Ozzie Guillen is eagerly awaiting Miami's next interleague series at the Angels,
Straight gut-laugh
they're just angling to get a better deal. if the angels move, it would only be if they somehow get a downtown stadium deal.
AEG is going on the block, by the way. so suddenly it looks like there's a scramble downtown. who knows what will be in place when the dust settles.
To be technical, it'd be Los Angeles Angels of City Of Industry
I assume that any deal to leave Anaheim will require them to leave Anaheim in the team name. So it will ultimately be:
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of City of Industry
Good luck fitting that on a pennant.
It is, and its basically the middle of nowhere surrounded by civilization. Only reason Industry exists is because a bunch of businesses made up a fake town for cheaper taxes, but it has very few homes in the city proper.
The NFL required the backer of the Industry stadium idea (Ed Roski) to call the area by a different name. So it became "Grand Crossing."
we've written about it. there's about 60 registered voters in the city. its mostly industrial parks and freeways.
though bob t is right. there is a small neighborhood in there somewhere that isn't a blight. pacific palms is actually in puente, but that's right next door.
I believe Mayor Pro Tem is Jeff Parriott
I grew up right by there, and used to go to the movies at Puente Hills mall every weekend - and NOBODY I knew when I was growing up ever called it anything but "City of Industry" or "The City of Industry". The official website calls it that too.
In the 2000 Census, Industry had 777 residents. Now, it's just 219. It's the Detroit of tiny cities!
And although Industry may be tiny, Vernon (population about 80) used to be home to a PCL team back in the day (1910s). Mostly because you could buy beer in Vernon and you couldn't in Los Angeles.
I saw it, but I don't recall it.
i did too. it was pretty forgettable.
There are plenty of strip clubs in town though.
I think I remember that Audrey Griswold was a little bit naked in it. That's all I got.
A recipe for graft and corruption.
They made the Eisenhower (the really hard one) course much more playable. There used to be a a minimum handicap to play there, but not anymore. I played there last year in a match for the first time in a very long time, and with the exception of a couple of ########, tricked out holes, it is now a solid course. I don't know about the other course.
It would be cool if the Dodgers then moved to the City of Commerce.
Even better if they did so and changed their name to the Clause.
Winner!

The Angels would have to become the Standard first.
