Most proftiable in the majors!
i got a friend who told me that apparently, crane and his basketball whiz ez CEO set up the network with comcast without bothering to FIRST investigate whether or not dish and direct tv and uverse would carry it. they were offered megabux by FSN, but refused it in favor of their own channel which isn't seen in most of the viewing area.
it is so stupid, that i can't believe their isn't a word for stupidest stupid of the stupid total maroons beyond belief

Crane is mutating into Bob Short before our very eyes.
I think there is now a huge "bubble" in sports television programming and channels. This will end badly for lots of teams and channels.
BBC NEVER disappoints.
TerpNats fails to add that the Nats' ratings are pretty lousy and trail the O's by a considerable margin. If they did have their own network instead of being joined with the Orioles, there's no guarantee that they'd be making all these wads of cash that some of their fans seem to think is 'rightfully theirs.'
What really sucks is that just now the Rockets are getting really good, they're the once being screwed over more here.
We know this because of Houston? The Houston situation is a bad situation unlike any other situation in the country.
I think everyone agreed the "$99M profit" claim in the original Forbes article was probably wrong, but if the assumption was that the Cardinals, at $42M, held the record for profitability heading into 2013, there was still a lot of room for Houston to take the "most profitable" crown this year (i.e., the $99M number could be off by a whopping $50M, and there would still be $6M of wiggle room).
Maury was using this latest news to bait the other Forbes writer on Twitter last night, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to Maury's analysis of the Astros' finances, and also a lot of unanswered questions re: CSN Houston's finances. Perhaps this proceeding will shine some light on the latter issue.
The Houston situation is uniquely bad, but cable viewers have been subsidizing sports channels whether they watch sports or not, and that's not going to continue, at least not at the same pace. Even if the Astros were in a successful period, it is very unlikely they would have gotten a deal similar to recent lucrative deals.
Oh, the Steinbrenner boys and minority partners were going to sell their interest in YES to Fox Sports over three years. YES was valued about $4 billion at the time IIRC. What's the valuation now? At the end of 2014?
Maury has been vindicated,
Since Joe has struggled with the accounting ...
Let's say your job pays you $19,000 per year, and you want to increase your earnings so you decide to start a side business with some partners. You invest at least $30k of your own money (and likely much more), and in return you get 44% of the business and a contractual agreement it will pay you $80,000 per year.
So you drive around your trailer park telling chicks you make $100k a year. But the business doesn't have enough cash or revenues and soon runs low, and stops paying you. You demand the partners pay your salary, they laugh and demand you put more money in first. Then they sue in bankruptcy court to have the business dissolved or restructured in their benefit.

I appreciate the offhand compliment and while I will continue to rail against the obviously cronyism and chicanery that has been the hallmark of Selig's tyrannical reign, in deference to you and the lack of a suitably robust filter, I will cease from referring to the withered husk of a commissioner as "Bolshevik Bud".
