Yup and it goes back a lot longer than 15 years. I can remember this complaint about the Red Sox dating back to the 70s (too many sluggers, not enough speed).

As Bill James pointed out, Herzog tends to overrate curveball pitchers, apparently because Herzog himself could not hit a good curve.
