I don't know Manny is at communicating but if he can do it he'd be a great coach. His work ethic regarding his hitting was said to be second to none and he came across as incredibly knowledgable.
What I don't get is why Manny would do this? He's got oodles of money, yet now has committed himself to farting around from backwoods town to backwoods town on a bus all summer.
Not everyone's ready for retirement in their early 40s, and Manny also has a reputation as a sort of hitting idiot savant.
Manny always struck me as someone who could roll out of bed and rope a line drive. The fact that he THOUGHT he needed steroids was sort of sad to me.
Manny's spending his early retirement playing baseball and hanging out with guys in the clubhouse ... how cool is that?
How common are minor league player-coaches? I think this is the first time I've seen that done.
