Over his last eight outings, Valverde gave up 11 runs on 15 hits in seven and one-third innings. He also gave up six home runs in that span.
The article also mentions that Alberto José Alburquerque has made his triumphant return to the majors.
Except, as noted, the 6 homeruns in 19 innings. Interestingly, Alburquerque has not allowed a single homerun in his 71 career innings.
Robinson Cano and Pablo Sandoval have homered off of him.
His peripherals don't strike me as that bad.
Odd that Valverde is either a closer or out of the league. No middle ground.
