Anyone know if it's possible using bb-ref's Play Index to find totals for the first XXX at-bats/ip of a player's career?
I'm trying to get (among other things) a list of pitchers with a sub-2.00 ERA over their first 100 ip in the majors, and I can't seem to find a way to do it...
You should be able to do this with the "Streak Finder" feature of the Play Index. There's a check box on the "Pitching Streak Finder" page "To start player's career" and then it looks like you can specify criteria for IP and ER.
I don't think that will work; that will only allow me to find the most consecutive games with "X" (6 or more ip, 2 or fewer ER, 5 or more K's, etc.) from the beginning of a career, rather than values from within a range of IP from the start of a career...
Even with the name on the masthead, I never would have guessed that's where that story was heading. Damn.
