Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mike Piazza and Craig Biggio have been elected to the Hall of Merit!
The timing for our first year electing 4 candidates could not have worked out better, since class of 2013 is the strongest in terms of electees that we’ve ever had. The top of the 1934 ballot included Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Pop Lloyd, Smokey Joe Williams and Cristobal Torriente, but only 2 were elected.
Bonds and Clemens were each unanimous at 1 and 2. I believe that’s the first ...

Clemens was in line to bring the Red Sox their first World Series since 1918 when he left Game Six of the 1986 Series ahead before the bullpen gave up the lead. Again in 2001 Clemens started Game Seven for the Yankees and left the game ahead before the bullpen gave up the lead.
Barry Bonds:
I would reword "Widely considered as one of the best players of all-time" (virtually any Hall of Merit selection can make this claim) to "One of the very few to be in the conversation as the greatest player ever".
Omit "accumulated" in the intentional walks comment (sounds weird)
His career runs scored is 2,227 (not 2,207)
His career total bases is 5,976 (not 5,796)
Roger Clemens:
In addition to the suggested add above, I would suggest "won a record seven Cy Young awards" (add "a record")
Mike Piazza:
In addition to the suggested edit above, I would add "achieved in pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium" after "112 RBI"
(or somewhere else in the write-up since I think that is an important aspect of Piazza's profile)
Thanks much.
redundant
