like Dirty Laundry, relative to the rest of Don Henley's catalog. I mean, it beats the crap of of The End of the Innocence or The Last Worthless Evening.
"Cinema Show" by Genesis. Tough call, but that's probably it.
My top 20, collectively, probably runs 2.5 to 3 hours.
Is one of them "Thick as a Brick?"
I just learned that one of my three favorite songwriters died a few months back, Scott Miller (Game Theory, Loud Family). Certifiably bummed.
Proving that I have no need to feel like I'm part of the in-group, my favorite is and has been for many years, "Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season."
"Sympathy for the Devil"
Buffett will always have his critics, but his early stuff is quite good.
A few years ago an acquaintance of mine who couldn't quite master the whole computer thing gave me a copy of Buffett's first LP to sale on eBay for him. It wound up going for something like $120.
And I wouldn't worry about it too much, even Bob Dylan has called Jimmy Buffett one of his favorite songwriters. Buffett will always have his critics, but his early stuff is quite good. Maybe I'm a fan because of my Gulf Coast roots, but his songs always fit that area well.
Where on the Coast are your roots? Before moving north to Montgomery and eventually Atlanta, I lived in Mobile and, for a few years, Fort Morgan. Pure white beaches, fresh shrimp, cold beer ... mmmmmmm.
