2013 Results: Bonds, Clemens, Piazza and Biggio are elected to the Hall of Merit!

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mike Piazza and Craig Biggio have been elected to the Hall of Merit!

The timing for our first year electing 4 candidates could not have worked out better, since class of 2013 is the strongest in terms of electees that we’ve ever had. The top of the 1934 ballot included Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Pop Lloyd, Smokey Joe Williams and Cristobal Torriente, but only 2 were elected.

Bonds and Clemens were each unanimous at 1 and 2. I believe that’s the first ...

For thirty years I have been hearing about Bill Lee for absolutely no reason. He apparently has two biographies. Why? Why this guy? Because he put marijuana on his pancakes one time? I dunno. I guess I wasn't there.

It's weird how certain people continue getting press despite never doing anything. It's like they have a cult following, and the cult is the media itself. Kinky Friedman is another one. I think Kinky Friedman is a guy who recorded a couple albums of parody country songs 35 years ago and since then has made a living off journalists buying him meals. And then there's Ron Silver. I frankly don't know who Ron Silver is except that he's a Hollywood actor or producer or writer or something who is constantly being interviewed as the representative of Hollywood's marginalized political conservatives.

Edit: To be clear, these are people who go out maniacally searching for interviews. Liz Taylor is possibly someone who wanted to be left alone but the media fixated on her anyway.

I was there, and I have the same questions. I always found him rather tiresome.

And then there's Ron Silver. I frankly don't know who Ron Silver is except that he's a Hollywood actor or producer or writer or something who is constantly being interviewed as the representative of Hollywood's marginalized political conservatives.

And, he had serious misgivings about becoming part of Poster 2's extended family.
