Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mike Piazza and Craig Biggio have been elected to the Hall of Merit!
The timing for our first year electing 4 candidates could not have worked out better, since class of 2013 is the strongest in terms of electees that we’ve ever had. The top of the 1934 ballot included Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Pop Lloyd, Smokey Joe Williams and Cristobal Torriente, but only 2 were elected.
Bonds and Clemens were each unanimous at 1 and 2. I believe that’s the first ...

1. Knock on any Iorg posted on March 15, 2013 at 06:33 AM # hit 0 | hit 0so prince takes the route that if you cannot say anything nice don't say anything at all and gets punished for it. meanwhile, cecil fielder who has a long history of making poor life choices is painted as a poor dad who just wants to love his son.
what prince knows is that cecil likely wants to get his hands on prince's cash.
why people are so willing to believe the bum never ceases to puzzle me.
This story was news, sort of, in 2007. It's 5 years later, and it's quite obvious to everyone that this is just Cecil's crazy one-sided view of the situation.
it's also very clear that cecil keeps crafting situations where he is in close proximity to prince, asks to see him (knowing the request will be rejected) and then cries foul to all around him as the aggrieved party. it's pathetic
and people tsk, tsk at prince being mean and unwilling to forgive.
well, sometimes that option isn't available. knowing that if you let someone back in your life you will just get a world of grief and misery.
And you could have kept family matters private, but instead you're writing a book to cash in on it and talking to any reporter you can talk to.
Learn the names or hire an editor, Rob.
My dad has daughters from a second marriage. They are not my sisters.
Cecylyn? Really?
Prince does have a full, not half, sister with that name, though the report I saw says Cecilynn. Considering what it would take to christen your daughter with your decidedly male name, it's possible that Cecylyn was just a new spelling on an old hubris. It's also possible Parker's just too lazy to check and this was the same girl.
Edited to add: All bets would be off if she were named Cecylyn. Then she go fly a kite!
God, what an ass. Go somewhere you are not invited to see someone who has repeatedly make clear doesn't want to see you, and he's the disrespectful one when he sends someone to tell you to leave?
And are we to take his word that Prince "sent" the cop. It could just as easily be "Sir, your father is outside and wants to see you." "I don't want to see him." At that point the cop, or more likely, security guard, tell that to Cecil and asks him to leave, as the game is over and he has no business there.
yup.
"If you didn't want to wait for me outside your [ballgame] you didn't have to. But you could have signed an authograph for Matthew!"
Ugh. This guy stole Prince's bonus money, broke up the family, and gambled all the cash away. Prince Field is under no obligation to forgive and forget.
I have to say, "My Son Calls Another Man 'Daddy'" has tons more pathos to it.
I have an older step-brother who was around when I was a pre-teen, and I was always jealous that my sister thought he was super cool (because he was older, and I was a dork). I don't see him much anymore, even though I've given him plenty of opportunities to hang out. However I don't feel obligated to do so, I've just chosen to offer invites.
I have a step-sister I've only met a handful of times, who is older than my sister but younger than I am, and I don't hardly know much about her aside from the fact that she has four kids. (For reference, I'm 26. I think she's.. 23?)
All this is to say, I welcome bonds from those who don't act like Cecil (and my step-family has a lot of Cecils in it). But the reason I don't see my step-siblings much or at all is due to the fact that we simply weren't raised together. I would feel obligated to help my sister if she asked and I was able, somewhat compelled to do so for my step-brother (although he lives with his mother, and has since always), and I don't think my step-sister even knows how to contact me.
I grew up with a different version of half sisters, in that their dad died, then my mom married my dad and they had us and also raised my half sisters as their own. So I used to think that half siblings were just sisters. But later on I found out, that they themselves also have other half siblings their dad had kids before them, that they haven't seen in 40 years. So I can see how it really depends on what happened. But still to me half siblings should at least be acknowledged and attempt to be cordial too.
Having said that, and also admitting that I think that forgiveness is something that should be accepted, there is no way in the world that anyone can read this article, and think of Prince as the bad guy here. This is transparent Cecil self serving manipulation.

She's not from a second marriage. Same parents.
Huh? What "doubling thing?"
if you hit the submit button sometimes it creates a clone of the poster to be generated. some appreciate having a second set of hands. others like blastin find it annoying and prefer this not happen
- sometimes life just ain't like that. you can't help who is or is not your parent, but sometimes there really ARE damm good reasons to just say - bye
my Husband did that with his genetic father and i know why and i support his decision and not once have i, uh, suggested that this decision was, um, something he should re-think.
step/half sibs in my world are common. i hardly know anyone who doesn't have a blended family. right this minute i have kids in my house i did not give birth to and i love em just the same
Yeah - I interpreted "baby sister" as meaning "sister who is a baby (or very young)". Not just "younger sister" from a marriage that I think has been over for a long time.
Cecil is still an attention whore and needs to just stop.
Is he perhaps the author of the upcoming book?
