Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mike Piazza and Craig Biggio have been elected to the Hall of Merit!

The timing for our first year electing 4 candidates could not have worked out better, since class of 2013 is the strongest in terms of electees that we’ve ever had. The top of the 1934 ballot included Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Pop Lloyd, Smokey Joe Williams and Cristobal Torriente, but only 2 were elected.

I don't know what it is about Canada and teams having dead players on the roster. Twice in one year, CFL teams drafted players who were dead.

Who doesn't enjoy a spirited game of Dead, Canadian or Both?

I feel like the infield anchored by Bill Hall at short is not ideal for a pitching staff with Lee and Smith.

My birthday today & my team doesn't figure to score many runs, but then again might not need to with that pitching staff. I might use Rodriguez at SS (as good as he was at 3B I'm sure he could be at least decent at shortstop) and move Bill Hall over to second base. That might not help the offense much but it would at least should make the defense better.

Jake Stahl says that he is sure he has no more dead players on his list. Since he discovered Lockwood, the dead Vancouver man on the list, he has been over it very carefully.

So many of us have a dead list, so few of us have Stahl's guts to act on it.

My local paper cancelled "Things Addie Joss Preferred When He Was Alive" when the original artist's grandson retired. But they still have "Gasoline Alley".

Hideki Okajima to the Yanks on a minor league deal. Why a minor league deal? Seems like Okajima was really good til 2010, and even then he wasn't that bad - still decent against lefties with an overall FIP of 4.64. Ed Wade would give this guy a three year deal.
