Chace’s Pancake Corral, for real. (NYT backgrounder on the star who stayed)

Seems our favorite M, who dazzles us with the K, makes it a point to visit the Pancake Corral a couple of times a week, in fact, whenever the team’s in town.

“Yes, he comes in with wife and cute little boy and he always has the strawberry waffle with bacon and eggs and orange juice,” says owner Jane Zakskorn, whose dad, William Chace, now deceased, opened the cozy little breakfast and lunch joint 55 years ago ...

This team is such a clownshoes operation. If Raul Ibanez is your answer, I'm not sure what the question is, but I don't think it has anything to do with baseball.

Der K - I will concede that Ibanez can play any time. I was just pointing out the silliness of the headline, to claim that a player has the credentials of a coach more than he has as a player. If that's true, then you should use him in the job he's most suited to. - Brock

But if they did that then when he puts his arm around the kid in the on-deck circle it will be coming from a coach, the very thing they feel is so important to avoid!

The Astros are starting from absolutely nothing but I'm not sure it's going to take them all that long to start finishing ahead of the Mariners in that division.
