1. Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Griffin (Vlad) posted on December 06, 2012 at 11:10 AM # hit 0 | hit 0Fields going was pretty much a no-brainer. Silveiro surprises me - why not just claim him on waivers last month? Has something changed on his medical status? Or is it just that the Marlins didn't have the roster space until they traded half of their team?
Rondon looks like he's a nibbler, but an advanced nibbler, I guess - and it would seem that he's old enough (and the Cubs pitching thin enough) that he's a legitimate contender to stick, perhaps even as the #5 or a swingman... can't hurt.
Peralta was signed young - but he's only just tasted some success in low A, so I can't imagine he sticks... seems to have both control and gopher ball issues.
Meh...
I like Kyle Lobstein (Mets pick from the Rays) - but I know his stock has fallen precipitously over the last few years (he's had some arm issues, no?) -- but I think that's my favorite pick.
He's got pretty good tools, yeah. I wrote him up in my draft guide for this year, if you're curious.
Lobstein's being traded (edit: to the Tigers).
Pretty sure that was last year that he was outrighted, not this year.
Looks like you're right. He was then a 6-year free agent this year, so sort of freely available, but might not have shopped around much.
I do like what the Astros did, with Fields and Freiman. Freiman has good power without big strikeout numbers and it's not all home runs, either.

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment of Pressley but if you can get a middle reliever in the Rule V draft that would seem like a big win to me.
Thanks. That clip showed raw, easy speed on his stand-up triple.
Yeah, I was really impressed. He didn't even look like he was working that hard.
