The disarray in the Nationals’ bullpen reached a bizarre and self-inflicted new height Monday night. After the Nationals’ 8-0 loss to the Giants, Manager Davey Johnson revealed that set-up man Ryan Mattheus had broken his right hand Sunday when he punched his locker after a dreadful performance, landing him on the disabled list and leaving the Nationals scrambling for fresh arms.

Yeah, but at least in 1965 Washington had some sort of a team, if you could call it that. Sort of like the position of Cleveland fans when the Ravens won the 2001 Super Bowl, while the replacement Browns team was going 3 and 13. The sweetest feeling must have been what Baltimore fans felt when the Ravens won a Super Bowl while Irsay's Colts were just crawling out of the coal mine in Indianapolis.
