Brown explained need for "system offense" as for seven-game playoff series where, "They'll stop that one thing you're good at."
"We can say Steve, go play and roll. He did that in Phx & they won a lot of games, it was fun to watch, but where were they in May?"
“We could do it now,” Brown said. “We could spread the floor and play pick-and-roll all the time. We can have different types of play calls that are pick-and-roll and Steve said we’ll score. And he said, but, A) It will wear him out and B) It will make him one dimensional so when we play the good teams, they’ll figure out that one thing we’re good at and they’ll take that away. Then when we’re in seven-game playoff series, for sure the later you get in the playoffs, they’ll be able to take us out of our offense because we’ll be so one dimensional. What we’re trying to do is we’re trying to eliminate that and try to be hard to guard because it’s a read-based offense.”
My guess is that Nash is going along with it since he is that kind of guy
Ended 1Q with Jackson, Maynor, Sefolosha, Martin, Collison. Microball lineup.
"We can say LeBron, go pound the ball outside the 3-point line, then crash through the lane. He did that in Cle & they won a lot of games, it was fun to watch, but where were they in May?"
D-League draft is tomorrow. If you're a lunatic, copious pre-draft data now available (Renardo Sidney sighting! Glen Rice Jr!). JaJuan Johnson considered the likely #1 pick.
"I just felt that (there were) bigger things to be concerned about than us being here to play a basketball game," Wade said after the Heat's shootaround Friday at Madison Square Garden. "Obviously, sports ... takes people's minds away from things, but I think there are bigger things that need to be done here in this city."...Wade plans to make a donation to Sandy's relief efforts, according to ESPN's Rachel Nichols. USA Today reports that Wade will donate his check from Friday's game. Per game, he makes $209,536.59.
Holy crap. Magic up huge at the half over the Nugs.
Maybe. But the Celtics are down 16 at the half to Milwaukee in their home opener. Miami is down 16 to the Knicks.
Even crazier is that Omar Asik has 19 rebounds and 0 points!
We were all jubilant when the Sixers traded for Andrew Bynum this offseason, but it's been three months since they got him and he hasn't done anything for this team. His knees are glassier than Mr. White's crystal and he used to be a Laker so that should tell you all you need to know about him. But still, I was eagerly anticipating his debut whenever it happened.
Then the Sixers went out and proved they don't need him. They beat Andre Iguodala (bum) and Andre Miller (should of kept) and the Denver Nuggets, sending a message to the entire NBA that even if Bynum never plays a minute here, they're a championship contender. In fact, I think they're a better team without him.
Spencer Hawes is definitely good enough to start for the Sixers and if he keeps playing like he did last night, he should make the All-Star Game. When you have an opportunity to start and All-Star, you do it. Plus he's white and I always like rooting for white people better anyway.
They're 100% without Bynum and haven't won a single game with him yet so I think my point is proven.
So Andrew, please stay in your dumb suit on the sidelines. We don't want you here. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Okay, now it's just ####### embarrassing. This isn't the Princeton offense, it's NO OFFENSE AT ALL. Throw in the 82 points allowed after 3 quarters...
Sources close to both players said Howard and Paul settled on the Dallas Mavericks as an ideal destination, knowing owner Mark Cuban had the means to clear salary-cap space for them. The Mavericks explored trades for both players, but didn’t have attractive enough assets to make a deal. And while Howard and Paul could have become unrestricted free agents in the summer of 2012 by opting out of their contracts, neither exhibited the patience to make such a plan feasible.
Paul was all in for joining the Mavericks as a free agent in 2012, but he wanted a commitment Howard also had interest, sources said. Howard, however, remained indecisive about his future in Orlando and wasn’t ready to commit to Paul. Frustrated, Paul eventually grew tired of waiting on Howard, gave up on the Dallas plan and asked the Hornets for a trade.
And as good as Foye has been, I hate the signing if it relegates Burks to the bench.
So, Phil, we've written a check. There's no number on it, but we trust that you're a reasonable guy. Plus, you like Nash, right? Anyway, your giant chair will be ready for the next home game.
Nash out for at least a week with a "small non-displaced fracture in the head of his left fibula."
Lakers trainers, your move.
today in terrible sixers blogging, we visit libertyballers:
houston looks really, really good. really, really, really good.

Maybe Rip Hamilton is the key
The non MLB SBN blogs are hit or miss.
Their design doesn't have you actively avoiding them? I'm impressed that anyone makes it to the content.
Joshua Harris and his crew should just sell this team right now. The recent news of the Jrue Holiday extension and the team picking up Evan Turner’s 4th year option becoming a reality, a feeling of darkness should have begun creeping out like zombies at the Eastern State Penitentary.
This team has absolutely no idea what they are doing and the front office is setting up the fans of the 76ers for many seasons of a Gus Frerotte-like series of head banging concussions without help in sight. Further proof of that is the recent news of the 7-6 hiring analytical expert Aaron Barzilai. Coincidentally, this comes after Dileo and DC spent the offseason lighting the team’s future championship equity on fire and locking the team into a no win salary cap situation.
With about a minute left, it seemed that they decided the slow, "BROOOOOOK-LYNN, BROOOOOOK-LYNN"" chant was best.
That would be a great narrative to create if you were say a Reggie Miller quality level broadcaster or something. Or if it were true.
