From the ESPN version of the article, Derek Norris seems overly infatuated with the idea that the A's are hated around the league. I didn't know that was a thing.
I doubt it is. Sounds more like he's trying to talk about Chavez, without using his name.
Now, if Norris had thrown in a "Hey, I was a sophomore in high school when some people were having their last good season as a starter," that would've been awesome.
"Some people over there, in the other dugout," he might have added. "In pinstripes."
FYI, Sat was the closest I have come to actually throwing my remote at a tv since the Giambi non-slide in the 2001 playoffs.
Isn't their regular CF named Fruity Pebbles?
I thought Jonah Centipedes was starting in CF now?
That's no laughing matter - as fragile as Chavez is, a slap in the face could easily make his jaw fall off.
Yes, yes, but he has the back of a 75-year-old man who laid cement for a living.
My father-in-law is a 70 y.o. retired mason, and his back's in much better shape than Chavez's.
Can't catch up with a good fastball anymore, though.
On career though Chavez kind of falls apart (heh!). He played in just 65% of his team's available games while Lynn played in over 77% of his team's games. Lynn's career low in games was 87 (strike adjusted) while Chavez had four seasons below that.
Lynn was more JD Drew. He was in the lineup more than you think but just was going to miss time every now and then and you sort of had to roll with it while Chavez was more of a Nomar type, once his body broke down it broke down pretty dramatically.
I was at the game Saturday and, I have to ask because it was exactly what I was thinking -- Is Nick Swisher retarded? He's got a look-at-me act for literally everything. He can't even come on the scoreboard and introduce himself as "Number 33, Nick Swisher. Number 33." without putting his hand on his forehead and saluting.
Maybe he made a wrong turn.
Maybe Chavez is afraid of the skeletons he left in his locker in Oakland and this hissy fit is his cover? Or his tell?
