    This is not good news? People really want to A's to move to Fremont or San Jose? I honestly have no clue about the popularity of the move.

    I don't know, honestly. I'm just in favor of things that tick off A's fans. :) Though I'm definitely rooting for them today.

    Anyway this is fine. It would take that long to build a ballpark in Oakland or San Jose or wherever, anyway. Let's just focus on the games for a couple of more weeks (hopefully!).

    I'm not sure the urban sprawl is really any larger in Industry. OC may be hemmed in by the ocean, but the San Gabriel Valley is equally hemmed in by the mountains. And for the record, I couldn't care less if they move or stay in Anaheim, though if I still lived there, I'd be very much in favor of them moving closer to Pasadena.

    The last time I went to that ballpark I thought it was fine. Clearly better than the ballpark across the Bay. That was 1974. I'm sure it has aged very well.

    It would be interesting if the Raiders never moved back. It was a very nice stadium for the early 90s and it is not especially well maintained. Concrete just stays stained after a while, but the place could be cleaner.

    I wouldnt mind if they moved down to SJ because it would be closer to where I live. That being said it would be nice if there is a feasible plan in Oakland and not a pie in the sky.

    Maybe the Raiders will move to LA (again) and Oakland will be able to demolish Mount Davis and do extensive remodeling like Anaheim did..... although I've heard it'll probably be the Chargers...

    Interesting opinions here with respect to the A.L. West rivalries. I've been an A's fan since the 60s but I don't have any dislike for the other teams in the division. If the A's are eliminated, I generally root for whichever A.L. West team advances. The Angels took a step up with me for beating the Giants in 2002 and the Rangers took a step down for losing to the Giants in 2010.

    I'm not sure how the tie-breakers work out with Texas and Baltimore but I'm pretty sure if the A's and O's both lose today, the O's will be getting on a plane to Oakland. If the O's win and the A's lose, the A's go to Baltimore.

    My like/dislike for each team rises and falls with their fortunes. I currently hate the Rangers, but don't feel much animosity toward the Mariners. That could easily be flipped in a few years. But with the Rangers, my level of hatred is accentuated by the classlessness (or perhaps cluelessness) of their manager and certain players.

    The AL West is my favorite division. Probably the only one where I have no natural antipathy for any of the teams.

    The win did nothing to take the sting out of relinquishing the division title the Angels held five of the previous six seasons -- particularly when Rangers manager Ron Washington played to the home crowd with several in-game substitutions.

    After the fifth inning, the Rangers' starting lineup took the field for the sixth. Washington then sent out replacements for four players (Elvis Andrus, Michael Young, Nelson Cruz and Ian Kinsler) so that the PA announcer could trumpet each substitution, triggering ovations from the crowd -- and some grumbling in the Angels' dugout.

    "You have some guys who thought it was maybe a little over the top," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "It's their party and they certainly deserved and earned the right to celebrate however they want to and push their way on to the playoffs."

    Scioscia dismissed it as "a non-issue," but he did acknowledge that it was not something he had ever done after the Angels clinched a division title.

    "It was a little weird," Angels starter Dan Haren said. "The thing is, I didn't know if there was any history. I was just wondering if this was something we had done before to them.

    "It seemed like a bit out of the ordinary. I feel bad for their pitcher. He had to stand out there for like five minutes. Then he gives up a home run to the first batter he faced (a tie-breaking solo home run by Peter Bourjos) and ends up taking the loss."

    There is plenty of history between the Angels and Rangers -- including Kinsler's ill-advised taunt ("Get off our field") caught on camera after an early-season sweep of the Angels in 2009.

    "It doesn't matter if it bothers me or not," Angels outfielder Torii Hunter said of watching the Rangers revel in their first division title since 1999. "What are we going to do? Cry?"

    When Vladimir Guerrero came up in the bottom of the sixth with no one on and one out, Haren made his distaste for the dramatics obvious.

    Washington waited until Guerrero was at home plate before pulling him for a pinch hitter, giving the DH a chance to take his bow. Haren's first pitch to pinch hitter Matt Treanor was behind him.

    The Oakland A's are a real baseball team, they deserve a real baseball stadium in which to play.

    This game is just starting to get exciting btw, A's-Rangers, it's on MLB Network.

    Coco Crisp just came up and they cut to a bunch of fans in the stands doin' the Bernie in unison, awesome. And now Coco just hit a 2-run double to tie the game at 5, seriously, watch this one.

    I bet when Moneyball 2 comes out about this 2012 season, Rangers will be portrayed as a stuck-up organization out to squash the hopes and dreams of small market teams everywhere, kind of like what the Yankees are.
