I’m genuinely gutted. Sullivan was hands-down my favorite baseball writer on the internet.

For a guy who makes his living as a professional writer, I don’t know a whole lot about quality writing. This is one of the reasons I don’t like to self-identify as a writer, not that “blogger” is any better. But I do know that, when reporting news, you’re supposed to lead with the substance. I met Mr. Fusselle in the 1970s after a Nets game at Nassau Coliseum(in the ABA days). He was a broadcaster for the Virginia Squires. He was very nice, took a few minutes to talk to me and gave me an autograph. Very sorry to hear about his untimely death.

When I was first exposed to ESPN in 1988 I remember him narrating the ESPN Baseball Magazine Shows. RIP.
