As usual, I feel that Oregon is entering the season ranked too highly.
Say things like this to other Oregon fans and they start yelling at me.
Rk Team (1st) Pts 1 Florida State (57) 1496 2 Alabama (1) 1361 3 Oregon (1) 1334 4 Oklahoma (1) 1324 5 Ohio State 1207 6 Auburn 1198 7 UCLA 1106 8 Michigan State 1080 9 South Carolina 101510 Baylor 966
Ohio State senior quarterback Braxton Miller, considered by several polls to be among the preseason leaders to make a run at the Heisman Trophy, reinjured his right shoulder in practice this afternoon, sources told The Dispatch. The injury puts in jeopardy his playing status for the coming season.
He's pretty much the one known quantity in the B1G at QB. The league has not been very deep at the position lately. A few effective game managers and such remain, but not a lot of high level talent.
Have never attended an event at either the Coliseum or Rose Bowl
"There's a very real possibility of football going away," said University of Hawaii Athletics Director Ben Jay at a Board of Regents meeting Monday afternoon.
Either South Carolina isn't that good on D or A&M isn't missing a beat.
Navy's game management leaves something to be desired.
Navy leads Ohio State 7-6 at the half, for those of you on upset watch.
Wisconsin's passing offense was iffy, and all its receivers are gone and it has made the quarterback change, but that's okay because LSU couldn't really stop the run last year, and then lost two tackles to the NFL.
except Tanner McEvoy isn't a quarterback--he's a tight end playing QB
Alabama allowed 1 offensive TD
What exactly happened at the end of the FSU/OSU game?
Not sure what issues I have with Lane Kiffin and Blake Sims either.
Bad: The defense, particularly the linebackers, had trouble tackling and dealing with the power running game again. That doesn't bode well for MSU next week, but again, it's hard to take anything from a 50-point blowout.
Also, Auburn has a very real passing game with Duke Williams/Sammie Coates.
The defense has always been the Ducks' achilles heel, and I hope -- maybe this year isn't the year, but one day -- that without Nick Allioti's reign of terror they might one day have one that stacks up well enough to truly compete. The last few years, I have had real difficulty talking to a lot of Ducks fans &/or listening to broadcasts, because everyone would go on and on about how underrated Allioti was. The man cost two different programs shots at the national title with his joke defenses, the Ducks more than once; he was only underrated in the sense that nobody knows the name of Pac defensive coordinators. The man was a disaster. Sadly, the Ducks don't appear to have learned to wrap up in his absence.
Ironically, MSU might give the Ducks trouble, but it won't because of their lousy defense. It will be because the Ducks always struggle with tough, fast defenses, and MSU has one of those. Anyway, I'll be at the game. It'll be interesting.
